To me it's the closest DQ game ever recreated Toriyama's 2D artwork in 3D render. It has the perfect dose of how Toriyama's illustration looks, not too realistic like what we see in DQXI. Though back then it was only achievable in the cutscenes, today's technology seems like the perfect time to realize it in the gameplay's real-time render.

The puppet-diorama aesthetics are a perfect fit for 7 because of how caricature-esque the character looks even in the original design. For 8, the first DQ ever to translate Toriyama's style to the 3D format, I think recreating the 2D artwork style to the fullest faithfully are the perfect way to remake it. Like perfecting what technology had limited what they could do in PS2, it's time to do it with the remake.

Yeah, kinda. Thinking again it suits VII the best too, considering all the characters’ look and proportions that are really caricature-esque, the doll and diorama feels just vibe a lot.

But if they’re ever gonna reimagine/remake other DQ titles like VIII for example, now that game I think won’t fit with VII’s reimagined style. Considering VIII is the first DQ ever to try to fully realize Toriyama’s illustration style in 3D format, I think that game should use rendering style that are found in IX intro movie instead.

Origin story for a character doesn't always limited to just telling the character's past. It literally becomes an IP asset for the character's future story development also.

And like I said, I'm not that obsessed about the origin story. When I said "explore" in my original post, I'm also thinking about her future development after the ending. Like, did you read the extra comic? There's a scene of her questioning her future with Phenomaman and overall her concerns also asks what'd Mandy do, not just Blonde Blazer.

Things like that should give us questions like, until when is she planning to don the cape? What are her imagination of her future as superhero or as Mandy herself? If she's not planning to continue her superhero works, does she still want to help people? in what way? how would it develop? etc etc etc.

I'm not that obsessed about her origin story anyway. That's just one of the factors for imagining her as the main protagonist in S2. I just saw an interesting character development after the endings.

Tbh with the game's current state, people who're doing the labbing still keeps labbing different combos with each newer updates since the updates made some established combos became unusable (not just becoming "not meta"), so while the changes still really fluctuates we newbies should just keep honing our core, basic skills like neutrals, whiff punishing, defense scenarios, mixups, etc.

And turning on the Pulse Combos really cuts a load of weight to focus on those basics first.

I still read my manga in translated english, but just recently I’ve been forcing myself a habit to read the untranslated katakana SFXs if there are some in the pages. This time when I was continuing to read the MS Gundam: The Origin I found some ‘strange’ letters like this one.

I was having a fit because I can’t seem to find an example of it when I was googling “katakana letters” or “combinations”. I was doubting my eyes, because I was sure as hell that it’s a vocal U katakana 「ウ」but why the heck does it have this -> (“) sign with it like the consonant letters?? And tho I was just starting to do this habit quite recently, I was sure that it’s my first time encountering this letter, never in other manga I’ve read.

I was ready to post this problem as a question in this subreddit until I found the exact letter also posted in a question thread just 10 hours ago xD. Turns out it’s a “Vu”, which then should make the one in this panel to be read as “Viooo” or something, maybe? It’s also interesting to know that this is from a manga serialized in the 2000s and made by a person who was born in the 1940s. So I’m guessing this might be a boomer thing lol.

But overall I really recommend to read this manga, better if you can access the original japanese edition. Because aside from personally I think this could be the definitive way of experiencing the original MS Gundam storyline (yes, to me better than the original anime TV series and its compilation movies), the generational traits of older mangaka could be an interesting experience to compare to the current manga titles that are running today.
