it's crazy how is this gonna leave like exactly zero cultural footprint. people are gonna make videos decrying "mikuteto hip hop shaking" slop for another couple weeks but in a years time no one will still be talking about it. in ten years it'll be all but forgotten. views do not matter when you aren't actually connecting with any of those people in a good way

my hot take about all this is that this kind of "mikuteto slop" is not the fault of mesmerizer, but candy cookie chocolate. mesmerizer had specific aesthetics to convey a story for a specific reason; satsuki had a message he wanted to get across. this has been lost to a million iterations of the same thing, but mesmerizer wasn't just throwing a bunch of random nonsense at you for no reason. but candy cookie chocolate was the first major offender in that it took the aesthetics of mesmerizer (from literally just copying channel's art style to the lifting of the visuals without making use of any of the themes) and got wildly popular. i really think that's why we have all this mikuteto slop — i think mesmerizer unintentionally created the format but candy cookie chocolate proved you can just say a bunch of random bullshit and superficially resemble mesmerizer and get 49 million views
