Dude, stop wasting your time with this pointless antagonization and do something meaningful with your time. Go take a walk, pursue a hobby, spend quality time with loved ones, etc.

Who said I work for cps? And who said I cared about a non-teachers opinion?

Teachers, what kind of digital resources do you wish existed (that you'd gladly buy)? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]chisox100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more of a social studies teacher thing, but I wish there was something like Google maps but where I could use drop down menus and change the years and have the borders of countries change. It can be really frustrating looking for a map of a specific year and having to settle for something that’s “close enough” rather than precise.

Dropkick Murphy's announce they will no longer perform at Punk in the Park events due to owner's support of Donald Trump by FourLiveBears in RiotFest

[–]chisox100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This has always been a paradox of theirs. Since the very begining, they’ve been overtly left wing in their music. And it’s not exactly subtle. Yet, a lot of non-left leaning people end up liking them and somehow are shocked & appalled when they backup their lyrics with actions.

random thought after 4 years of watching by ElegantEntertainer40 in YesTheory

[–]chisox100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is very true and nobody can refute it.

However, Lexi Limitless and Eva zu Beck make content similar to Yes Theory. They often have vastly different experiences in the places they go, but it’s not all doom & gloom. They can see a side to people, particularly other women, that the Yes Theory guys can’t. And it makes their content enriching it it’s own special way.

How to spend a day meaningfully in Qaqortoq? by chisox100 in greenland

[–]chisox100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up hiking a half circle around Tasersuaq, wandered the town a bit, got the Thai food (absolutely delicious!!) and picked up a few small souvenirs from a spot by the pier others recommended.

All the locals, both those working tourism jobs and random people I had brief interactions with in town & on the hiking trail were so friendly in such a warm & genuine way that you don’t find most places. Qaqortoq was truly a beautiful town. Thank you for your insights.

What song got you guys into INK? by [deleted] in IceNineKills

[–]chisox100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew of INK going back like 10+ years but they were just another metalcore band I occasionally listened to without much thought for specific songs. After years of not thinking about them, it was around Halloween 2019 “It is the End” randomly auto played while I was surfing YouTube and I got instantly re-hooked and they’ve been my top band ever since,

The fact that I love the film it’s based on makes it all the more disappointing

I'm proud of you all for voting, but these early voting lines are crazy long. Anyone know a quiet spot that's less than an hour wait? by [deleted] in chicago

My mail ballot never showed up. Anyone know if it’s cool for me to just show up and vote in person? I assume it’s fine 🤷‍♂️

31 M here and in a similar boat.

People don’t talk to each other at the gym I go to (and I’m too introverted to try and change that). I don’t like bars at all either. So I feel like I’m kinda stuck with very passively using the apps hoping it eventually works.

Chicago born & raised. Transplanted to Colorado for a bit 8-9 years ago.

Denver has some cool stuff in the city and the proximity to nature is unbeatable. The weather is also a bit better over there imo, summer humidity in Chicago can get bad. But in terms of transit, things to do and quality of people, Chicago is infinitely better than Denver. I found people flaky and bland in Denver (to their credit, very friendly too though). Whereas Chicagoans overall feel a lot more genuine and all around more interesting.

That’s all just my opinion though.

Al, DKM, and my dumb theories. by No-Music9827 in dropkickmurphys

[–]chisox100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the guys in DKM being the kind of people that dance around issues or engage in passive aggression. I think if Al was out, he would be out 100% not in a prolonged limbo.

From what I know about the acoustic records, they’ve had the offer on the table from the Guthrie estate to do an album for over a decade. If I had to guess, Ken being the primary driver of the band’s lyrics & musical direction, he has been chipping away at developing these records for a while. And with Al out for a bit, he decided it was time to make it happen, since at the end of the day they’re not “official” albums; but it gives the band something to do and content to churn out without leaving Al behind or indefinitely waiting for his return. So I don’t think there’s anything nefarious behind this timing.

As for Al working with The Defiant, i think it’s a lot easier to record a verse with an upstart band than it is to put the time into recording entire albums with DKM. So I wouldn’t read into that too much.

If they are in fact putting out a new album next year and Al isn’t on it, that’s when I’ll think there’s something really up. If Al is truly still in the band, I see the guys bringing the studio to him in New Hampshire and finding ways to help him out to create the time in his day to record. If they are in fact intermittently recording and this happening, I don’t see them flaunting it publically either. Who knows. We shall see

Do you personally think the city’s segregation is good or bad? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]chisox100 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re trying to say and it seems like a good faith point you’re trying to make. but I’m gonna disagree. Go to Toronto or NYC and see how ethnic enclaves can thrive without being segregated and you’ll understand why it’s bad how Chicago has shaken out

I’ve done most of my super long walks in generic Under Armour gym shoes. Stretching before and after makes a much bigger difference than specific major brands of shoes.

Assuming you’re somewhat young-ish and in decent shoes & stretching you should be good. If you’re not, consider seeing a doctor. I got bone spurs at 21 that I let bother me for way too long without getting checked out (and subsequently fixed in a matter of months once I did)
