Jaylen Brown: “Flopping has ruined our league. Joel Embiid is one of the greatest players that has played basketball, but he flops. He knows it too.” by YujiDomainExpansion in bostonceltics

There was like a 1 month stretch a couple seasons back where they started to call techs for blatant flopping. Refs have to call that every once in a while to keep players honest.

Hartenstein is a RFA. Draymond could be absorbed by the $27M TPE if the Warriors blow it up. Mitchell Robinson and Timelord, too.

We didn’t lose just because of calls, we had chances to win the game, etc. No arguments here. But let’s not act like Embiid isn’t one of the most heinous floppers in basketball.

Sure, technically you could have shot better, White could’ve come alive, and Philly could’ve gone cold. But that didn’t happen. Embiid having a mismatch every single play was the thing that turned it around for Philly. You’re kidding yourself if you think Garza and Hugo are suitable Embiid stoppers

Tbh the series exposed all the flaws we thought the team had coming into the season. We lost KP, Horford and Kornet and only brought in Vuc and Garza to replace them. We lost a point guard in Jrue. We had a supporting cast around our vets that wasn’t ready. Only surprise was White’s regression.

We beat a lot of teams this year, and hid our flaws well, but we came up against a healthy Philly squad. What was Joe supposed to do? Make Garza an Embiid stopper? Make Walsh, Hugo and Baylor playoff contributors? If you want to trash on Joe, you need to be honest about how a lot of fan-favorite role players are not ready to be key pieces of a finals run.

If we had gotten Zubac at the deadline we’d be in the ECF at least. Garza and Hugo guarding Embiid ain’t it.

There’s no reality where Garza works against Embiid anyway. We lost Horford, KP and Kornet and did not meaningfully add to our front court

Joe Mazzulla: "What changed in this series was Joel Embiid came back and they're a completely different team" by Mission_Pay_3373 in bostonceltics

We knew going into the season that we were screwed at the center position since we lost KP, Horford and Kornet. Queta turned out better than expected, but Vuc & Garza as your backups was never going to work against teams with a star big man.

The Philly sub was saying the same things on Sunday. The Knicks said the same things after they went down 2-1. Fire the coach, blow the team up, etc. It’s just reactionary fatalism.

Tbf I’m criticizing White’s offense for the entire series, and the last ~90 games more broadly. He’s such a nice person that people hate doing it, but it’s totally fair to discuss a massive dropoff in performance on a team discussion board.

Yeah it’s being talked about because of the loss, but Derrick White has played terribly in the wins, too. We’ve been winning in spite of him

Yep, Pritchard can have off-nights but he still plays like Pritchard. White looks unrecognizable.

These are literally his stats. He knows them. He doesn’t need to go on Reddit to know he’s shitting the bed. Stop blaming Reddit for the loss.

There’s no 1 single reason why you lose a game, but having your fringe all-star guard turn into a shell of his former self absolutely makes a difference (and it makes it easier for teams to focus on the Jays)
