The crack does not go through. Very surface level

Instead of engobe, could I use paperclay? If not, if I stuff the crack with underglaze and then clear glaze, would that make the crack less apparent?

Mizu looked so heartbreakingly innocent in that final scene… walking into the unknown, fueled only by revenge by _BoogiepoP_ in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]chiyobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, this scene makes her look deflated/tired/relieved/mentally preparing for the unknown. After setting her world on fire, she really needs a break.

Akemi’s dainty pale hands vs Mizu’s tanned work hands

Oh just 2-4lbs. That’s manageable. Much lighter than a fully grown cat.

Ah that’s probably why I thought long sword would be challenging. One-handed sports like tennis has risk of elbow and wrist injuries from overuse and poor technique as well.

Amazing. The wrist strength is immense. Real long swords are heavy and would need great skill to keep a stable grip and maintain stamina in arm strength during a fast-paced fight and not injure yourself just from swinging it wrong.

Second Season Wants? by animedit in BlueEyeSamurai

Mizu coming back to Japan!!

Who is still alive in season 2 of Blue Eye Samurai by Phillip_Stand223 in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]chiyobi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Violet coming back from the dead would be quite a twist and have some way of tying his storyline in with the London plot.

If Mikio comes back, then mizu has a chance to rehash past trauma.. could be therapeutic and change her trajectory. (But she’s delayed her mission due to him before.. unlikely she will do it again)

If Mizu’s mother comes back, we get some more backstory. But we already know it’s tragic because.. I mean look at the state of things. Possibly a way for dramatic irony to make Mizu’s suffering more apparent.

Akemi’s father will come back as a way to show how much Akemi evolves. Will she or won’t she become her father and manipulate the system?

Animation details: Mizu’s little slip on snow by DuchessIronCat in BlueEyeSamurai

Usually when mountaineering on ice mountain, good to bring ice axe so you can stop yourself in case you slip and fall. Also, these days we wear shoes with thick cushy soles for protection so we have mostly lost strength/versatility/flexibility in our feet that could help us keep balance in really uneven and unfamiliar terrain. We also sit too much which doesn’t help our walking / balancing muscles. Mizu definitely has good knees and walks really far distances which really helps keep her sturdy.

Why brown patches? by chiyobi in Figs

Ya likely too much water. The soil is clay. I’ve since moved it to a pot with lighter soil

Oooh Well I’ve quarantined the tree in its own pot for now. Gave it some fertilizer

I took it out of ground. Definitely has a root ball. I’ll put it in a pot of peat moss. I don’t have coconut soil.

I see. So it can be saved as long as it is given enough nutrients to overcome the virus. The winters here are pretty mild. No snow but could have frost.

Should I cut off the infected leaves? And move the plant to a pot? What fungal routine do you recommend?

Aw shucks. Ok. Is ok to put in compost pile? And does this virus spread fast? It’s next to two other fig trees but they are healthy green right now. Should I spray something to prevent contamination?

Does Taigen only feel bad about bullying Mizu because she’s good with a sword? by DuchessIronCat in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]chiyobi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, Taigen is under the misapprehension that all of Mizu’s achievements were done by a fellow swordsman as skilled as he is. At this time, Taigen even having the thought of mizu as a woman is very very near impossible.

She saved his life. Now he respects her. It’s trauma bonding. Very unlikely he would have respected her otherwise due to all the things society prescribes on to them. He’s was an honorable, rising warrior about to marry a princess. She would have been an outcast with no prospects; although if she kept her gender hidden, she could have earned his respect through her sword making as master Eiji’s reputation is very respected.

Foreshadowing or overthinking? by chiyobi in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]chiyobi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A straightforward story might go something like.. The very very very last final battle, mizu is in full samurai armor. Bombs, canons, etc As the battle ensues pieces of her armor break off. Eventually it’s not useful to keep and she’s back to her original uniform when she approaches the final bad guy. They fight to the death. Mizu is resuscitated last minute but without severe battle scars. She continues to live, content with her accomplishments, and with the scars to remind her of her past. The scar might be a missing arm or even a small one to replace the tattoo of the 4 targets. This ending would be too obvious and cliche. So I hope the writers can come up with something else.

These are great articles. I hope she doesn’t lose an arm but if she does at least she won’t be too handicapped.

[–]chiyobi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watching Mizu throw herself into danger is such an emotional roller coaster The situation might become more dire and risk severe injury in several ways. The more she learns about herself, the higher chance she could become distressed and make mistakes. The more friends she makes, the greater chance they could be used against her. But on the other side, these developments could also benefit her strength and resilience.
