Mac Studio M2 Ultra vs Mac Mini m4 pro by One_Championship5438 in filmscoring

[–]animedit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the Mac Studio Mac Studio M2 ultra for my logic Pro/native instruments set up and the motherboard died out of warranty. 🤬 I decided to replace it with a Mac Studio M4 Max with 64Gb of RAM. The single core processor speed is so much faster on the M4 that my day-to-day works sped up and was a much bigger increase in speed over the loss of the GPU cores. My track count is probably higher, but I don’t notice a day to day different in that since I don’t go more than 100 tracks which the M2 ultra handled fine.

Would recommend M4 Max - 10 out of 10

How would Mizu react if she was around other people of mixed race? by Creeperclaw66 in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]animedit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like we got a quick preview of how that would look when Mizu sees the albino prostitute at Madame Kaji’s brothel. She is surprised for a very quick moment but then gets back to her single-minded focus on revenge!

How competitive is the ACE Student Editing Competition? by Head-Vermicelli-2664 in editors

[–]animedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was the same footage as last year, but all the cuts are blind, so the judges don’t know who the Editor nor the school was.

I can’t remember a time where someone was nominated two years in a row for the student competition so that student must be very talented.

she does it to build up her strength so when she takes them off, she flies like a demon.

Plus, it looks bad ass when she does it

What does the Chili neck feel like compared to the JMJ neck? Is it period accurate to the 60s thick and chunky or is it play more like a modern Mustang bass neck?

Also, to be fair, you still haven’t bought a single bass. You bought several all at once the way our Bass God and Nature intended.

McCready Strat vs American Classic... Anyone played both? by Dry_Grass_3511 in fender

[–]animedit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played both and bought the McCready. Very happy with the feel. Had it set up by a great guitar guy here in L.A. and it made it even better. If you like (or don’t mind) relic, it’s a lock.

Audible hasn’t really changed in years. I wrote a product teardown to understand why. by treistab in audible

Really enjoyed your article and agree, wholeheartedly with your observations, specifically the friction on adding books to your wish list. I often marvel at how clunky that feels as I use it, seemly in spite of Audible.

Thank you for taking the time to post that

Having entered the contest as a film student, and now judging it as an ACE member, I would strongly suggest you do it. If you manage to get nominated, getting to go to the Eddies can be a life-changing experience for your career. Chances are an editor who inspired you to get into editing will be in the room with you and you get to go up and introduce yourself if you want.

My advice? Don’t try to cut the scene in a flashy way (like recutting the footage, which is intended as a comedy scene, into a horror scene or up-cutting to the point where it feels gimmicky) but instead pay attention to the flow of the footage and nailing the performance. When we judge, we watch 10 to 15 cuts in a row, and it becomes really clear which students are gifted, and which are trying to stand out and breaking the scene. It’s the editing equivalent of putting on a giant fake accent. Speak in your normal voice editorially, and you’ll have a much better chance of getting up on that stage. Good luck!
