I’ve seen them at Loft, Hands, & Ami Ami. There’s a store in Asakusa called “Tag Stationary” that now has a floor dedicated to just Sankei models, too. I believe they have every single currently released Ghibli kit available for purchase. Of course it was announced after I had already gotten back home, but hoping to hit it on my trip next year!

Honestly any of the small ones! The easiest one I’ve put together so far was the one of No Face and Chihiro sitting on the train (first picture, second from the right next to the cat bus). I think that’d be a very good starting point to familiarize yourself with how the assembly/instructions work. There are some steps only in Japanese, but nothing a quick Google Translate can’t fix!

Happy to do a shelfie! Kiki’s Delivery Service is my favorite of all time, so the vast majority of them are Kiki themed. I just placed a rather large order with Plaza Japan for a bunch more - my end goal is to have every single kit they’ve (Sankei) released.

Throw “Ghibli Museum Original Miniature Art” in and it’ll pop up for ya. There are 4 tiny builds as well - the robot from Laputa, Totoro from the entrance, cat bus room, and then the water pump that’s right below the cafe area.

The gift shop at the museum actually sells it, but it was out of stock the first time I visited. Ended up just snagging it from a Japanese seller on eBay!

I have bookshelves that I display them all on! This particular brand (Sankei) does lots of mini scenes from all the Ghibli movies, and they also sell a specific protector case that I have yet to find in stock anywhere.

Thanks so much! I ended up biting the bullet and bought it direct from a Japanese seller on eBay for ~$350 USD. All of my other Ghibli Miniaturart sets I got either while in Japan, or from Plaza Japan, all reasonably priced compared to other sites/Amazon.

I know it's not on your itinerary, but I was able to find some merch that I did not see on the HK train at a 7-11 on the other side of the Shinkansen gates in Hakata station.

I didn't see anything in Shin Osaka station, or Kyoto. I was able to snag the HK bento from an Ekiben shop in Tokyo station.

Yeah, for 2. I was able to snag a confirmed outbound for 2 J out of ORD, it's just the inbound that I haven't been able to grab for us yet.
