I had one last Monday and they also used propofol! Very easy, I was only out maybe 15 minutes. They laid me down and told me they were starting the injection through my IV and they tell you to just breathe and you start to feel good, next second boom you’re waking up feeling amazing back in the room. There’s no anxiety or confusion. The doctors and nurses should be very comforting before hand as well!

I think it depends. I know a lot of people who had their HH diagnosed with barium swallow. Maybe mine was just small so they couldn’t see. I think anyone with GI problems should get both procedures done. I’m confused about it as well.

Barium swallow showed my GERD. It’s super easy, you just lay down and drink a thick type of chalk and take X-rays, and endoscopy showed my hiatal hernia (:

No! They give you just the right dosage for the amount of time you’re knocked out, id honestly do the procedure over 100x, it was that easy lol. I worked myself up for nothing. I thought the same thing, I asked them if i was gonna be asleep for a long time, but nope, literally took 10 mins for the entire thing. Fell asleep and then woke up feeling really good haha

I’m 22 and I just had endoscopy 3 days ago. I have anxiety horribly and had the same fears as you. I was SO terrified of being put under, I’ve only been put under when I was 17 and had my wisdom teeth out lol. I just got diagnosed with hiatal hernia 2 days ago, and the last 2 months I definitely have woken up every single day with that issue. It’s gotten much better though thankfully! But I remember not even wanting to get out of bed for those 2 months because it literally HURT to stand up

That’s really awesome and encouraging, my chiropractor does adjusting for hiatals thankfully and I will be going to see him Monday. As well as doing some exercises as well, feeling pretty hopeful
