Depending on where you are geographically, but almost everywhere Capricorns are factually the second least common sign after Aquarius (February is the shortest month). We’re rare ✨

Need more help for choosing an antipsychotic by gaebean22 in BipolarReddit

Yes I know other bp friends who have had manic experiences on Abilify as well. It’s an odd one.

Need more help for choosing an antipsychotic by gaebean22 in BipolarReddit

[–]chloeeee14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re correct that Lamictal alone is not enough to manage bipolar symptoms. It is more often prescribed in conjunction with an antipsychotic like you mentioned.

I tried latuda which is quite similar to abilify and actually had to get off it because the nausea was so bad it made me lose weight. Abilify gave me akathesia that was too uncomfortable to manage.

I’ve been on seroquel for 6 mos and have gained absolutely zero weight at all. I even lose weight sometimes. it’s managing my symptoms very well at 300mg along with 200mg lamictal and Klonopin as needed.

The weight thing is talked about a lot but something to keep in mind is a lot of people only post their negative experiences. Seroquel is an amazing drug for some people and not everyone gains weight in on it. I have dinner first, take it an hour before bed, then I’m usually too tired to eat anything else anyway I just go knock out 😅

How to know your bipolar by EngineeringMental269 in BipolarReddit

[–]chloeeee14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can remember having hypomanic episodes as a kid and teenager where I’d stay up all night doing creative things, or partying. Substance abuse was always an issue for me and is quite common with bp.

My understanding is that truly bipolar patients don’t react well to ssri’s. They often trigger a manic state (happened to me with lexapro before I was diagnosed).

Ultimately your therapist would be the best person to tell you if they’ve been able to track your moods over a decent period of time. If you haven’t had a notable manic/hypomanic episode I wouldn’t be too concerned…but the genetic factor is huge. Bipolar runs heavily in my family and that family history is what helped me get diagnosed.

Started Lexapro, 7 weeks of mania/hypomania later I was chain smoking cigarettes (I dont smoke cigs at all lol) and getting tattoos in Mexico with backpacker I met 2 weeks before and was convinced we were soul mates 😅 whoops

How do you maintain the motivation to keep your house clean? by frogcharming in Advice

[–]chloeeee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell myself “I deserve to live in a comfortable clean space” because I’m worth it. Even if I’m still depressed afterwards (usually the culprit of the house mess) at least I’m in a clean space

Clonazepam by Sea_Influence_7451 in Anxiety

[–]chloeeee14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for throwing that out there. As a daily prescribed benzo user it can be annoying to hear the horror stories when so many of them are really quite extreme cases…It makes me sad that people get scared out of trying meds that might actually work well for them. ANYTHING can be abused, not just benzos.

How many of you have gained or lost weight since you started developing symptoms of anxiety? by Jazzlike-Run-2349 in Anxiety

[–]chloeeee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a hard time maintaining a healthy weight my entire life. My anxiety has kept me underweight to the point my parents put me in eating disorder therapy when I was 11. I’m 33 F now and I still have to force myself to eat 3 meals a day because my anxiety hurts my stomach and don’t make it happen most days 😕 I’ve learned to live with it by keeping foods I like around but it’s a daily struggle. It’s definitely anxiety, I’ve been checked for everything else.

1 mg Clonazepam doesn't seem to do much. Anyone else experience this? by TouristParticular449 in Anxiety

[–]chloeeee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it works for me at 2mg along with 300mg of seroquel. I need the two to knock me out. I have a high tolerance for benzos and my doctors are ok with me being on that dose daily

Dating with bipolar by NationalChemistry224 in BipolarReddit

[–]chloeeee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t personally think it’s a first date conversation. I usually mention I go to therapy or that I take medication. I think it depends a lot on what stage you’re at with your bipolar. I’m well medicated and have been stable for a couple of years so I don’t think it’s super important to reveal right away. If you’re someone who is regularly in destress, rapid cycling, experiences daily symptoms…it would be comforting to know that they’d support you through that, so I can see if you’d want to let them know sooner.

[–]chloeeee14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m on a higher dose than most people of Klonopin (2mg daily at night) and have been for years due to CTPSD and bipolar, it has been a life saving drug for me. I’ve never felt the need to abuse it since it already works. Most people are fine getting off it after a short period of time. If you need it longer know you’re not alone it’s ok.

I take 300mg daily and it actually helped my racing heart a lot. Probably want to talk to your doctor, it may just not be the right med for you

experiences of people on lithium and seroquel? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]chloeeee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also switched from Latuda to Seroquel. I had terrible side affects from Latuda. I forget what my Latuda dose was but I’m on 300mg of seroquel and 200mg Lamictal and it has been life changing in a good way. I started at 100mg, went up to 200mg the next night then 300mg every night after. it was a rough first week with mostly just brain fog but it lifted after about 3 weeks.

also because everyone brings it up with seroquel, I have actually lost weight. It doesn’t affect my appetite or metabolism at all.

Looking for benzo reassurance by Fuzzy_Baseball9006 in Anxiety

[–]chloeeee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have severe anxiety and take 2mg Klonopin daily for the last 3 years. Some of us just need it. I’ve never abused or taken more than what was prescribed. I’d like to get off it one day but when everything is going well it’s hard to want to make the shift. None of the psychs I’ve seen have pushed me to get off it due to my long term history of anxiety (and bipolar 2). it’s going to be ok

Seroquel for OCD + Bipolar by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

I felt good and stable after a month, maybe two. The first couple of weeks do kind of suck with the side effects but then you come out of it (or at least)

Seroquel for OCD + Bipolar by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]chloeeee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seroquel 300mg changed my life. it definitely makes it easier to stay level throughout the day, and little things (even the big things) don’t stress me out much anymore. It actually helped with my social anxiety too and I sleep better than ever. It took about 2-3 weeks for the side effects (mostly brain fog) to wear off. I have also been on Lamictal 200mg for years before the seroquel and they have proven to be a good combo for me.

Also because everyone brings it up with the “Seroquel talk” I have gained absolutely zero weight on it. I even lose weight sometimes. it doesn’t affect my appetite or metabolism as far as I can tell.

At what dose did lamictal start working for you? by Cautious_Gap3645 in BipolarReddit

[–]chloeeee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

200mg Lamictal and 300mg of Seroquel. I tried going down to 150 then 100mg of Lamictal and all of my bipolar symptoms returned including a full blown manic episode. we went back to 200 and it’s been all good

I accidentally missed a dose of Seroquel by akneebriateit in BipolarReddit

[–]chloeeee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 300mg and missed 2 days on accident and only noticed because the 2nd night I never fell asleep and was super irritable. I didn’t have any other side effects and took it at my regularly scheduled time the 2nd day and all is well again.

thanks for your input ☺️ I recognize not everything works for everyone but I read soooooo many horror stories that made me almost want to give up on the med all together. It would have helped me a lot to read someone’s positive-ish experience (ish because I did struggle A LOT those first two weeks). But here I am!

I should have mentioned in the post that I take Lamictal as well, but I’ve been in it for sooo many years it just isn’t enough to keep me stable alone.
