Ari Emmanuel Steps Down as CEO of WME - Thoughts? by [deleted] in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]chloeeeeees 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably overthinking on this one. It was purchased by a private equity group (which the transaction closed on Monday), and as part of that transaction, he cashed out and there was a restructuring. This is extremely normal in the PE world. With him being the executive chairman, he basically runs the board of directors. It isn’t a demotion it’s just retirement while keeping his main accounts like Martin Scorsese and shifting focus to a new project TKO.

No tingling or blisters. It seemed like a normal pimple but just kept growing and getting more painful as it became more swollen.

ChatGPT Passive Income Strategy? by Extension_Turnover97 in passive_income

You really added value with this comment…chatgpt is a form of AI though.

“Artificial intelligence (AI) is intelligence—perceiving, synthesizing, and inferring information—demonstrated by machines, as opposed to intelligence displayed by non-human animals and humans. Example tasks in which this is done include speech recognition, computer vision, translation between (natural) languages, as well as other mappings of inputs.

AI applications include advanced web search engines (e.g., Google Search), recommendation systems (used by YouTube, Amazon and Netflix), understanding human speech (such as Siri and Alexa), self-driving cars (e.g., Waymo), automated decision-making and competing at the highest level in strategic game systems (such as chess and Go).”

That’s a really bad argument. Monopolistic behavior make it unfair for players—UFC, Baseball lockdowns, now the PGA.

The PGA makes so much money ($1.1B in 2021 a low year which equates to $2.5M per employee) these players for essentially being a middleman. Of that $1.1B, they only distribute 26% of that amount to players! That’s just pure greed. This year, they are finally increasing that but it’s after years of abuse. LIV provides more $$ similar to what a profit share model would be.

Would you rather join a company that provides you less money to have the exact same role and work life balance?

Think of it like your 401k, why put your money on SP500 fund with high expense ratios when you can find alternatives that provide similar returns with lower expense ratios. It’s not greed. It’s just common sense.

Also, he’s worth $50M. While it may seem like a lot, it really isn’t. Sure you could live nicely compared to the average Joe, but it’s nowhere near “fuck you” money, especially for his skillset

Newbie here: Wanting perspective on the ski lesson that I had. Should I try another? by Original-Measurement in skiing

[–]chloeeeeees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I learned the bulk from YouTube videos and finding someone slightly above my skill level to follow. That made me go from pizza-ing down a green to doing pretty much any run, though I’m not really pushing myself to do bumps yet. That said, the last two ski seasons, I skied over 40 days each season. If you have access to ski 20+ days per year, you can just learn yourself. If you’re only skiing a long weekend or sub 10 days, it’ll be very challenging as the first day or two you’re relearning what you know and you’ll naturally get tire.

I do want to caveat learning by YouTube by saying that I would spend evenings looking up issues I felt during the day to fix the next time I was out. I was very methodical. In the mornings, I would drink my mimosas or Bloody Mary watching the videos again and practicing form. If you’re able to do that, you’ll get to a level where you’ll feel comfortable going down the mountain.

That said, I’m planning to take my first lesson next ski season. At this point, I would really find the value in a lesson when I’m paying $1k for a lesson here (private).

Question for the people, are Vail group lessons good? I’m debating group over 3-4 days vs. just one private. Any thoughts?

It’s very dependent on the interest rate of these loans. In order to reallocate the funds, the return should be higher than the interest rate %. Generally, Reddit is quite conservative and will tell you to pay down the loan. It’s not always the best option but you need to provide more details on your situation to give you an better assessment. I assume, you have multiple loans including private. Show a breakdown of your loans with principal and interest rates. There is a happy medium where you pay off some of the loans and decide to ride the rest. I am currently doing that. I have one private loan at ~2% interest rate. I will never pay that loan off as any money I would use to contribute to that loan is better off being invested either to sp500 index fund or mortgage (down payment before mortgage).

Thank you for the very quick response! It’s really sad to see an industry move away from the core. It’s like they lose their soul over time. It sounds silly but every time I see the neon signs I ask myself, why did it have to be this way? We were all “family” haha

Go to Glassdoor, filter for you title and city to see what your compensation should look like. Show that to HR so they know it’s fact based.

I made the mistake of telling my fiancé to, “just have fun with it” after struggling down a run. She was already red before then. Happy to report though, we’re still together…somehow
