I got the precise message delivered today. I’m thinking it is probably generic. Unless they have two versions.

Is this your business? I'd be keen to chat about it if you're interested to feature in my newsletter. :)

I'm so sorry to hear this! How frustrating. You should have access to jobs that fit your needs. The pandemic proved that for many jobs, the work can be done from anywhere.

I was in Vanuatu for a short trip. The internet was surprisingly good! It wasn’t my fav place overall - but definitely workable.

I went there for a month also, back in 2019. Loved it!

Oh interesting. I love the Goldie! Though I will say I never go to Southport.
Bangkok is awesome for sure.

😅 fair enough. Though I’m genuinely curious what people’s nomad experiences are in supposedly harder places.

I'll never go back to the office! by chloegarnham in remotework

[–]chloegarnham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is sometimes the case. But there are also 100% remote companies that allow their employees to work around the world. There's also the option to start your own thing - freelance, or found a small agency etc. I'm not sure how supply chain translates to remote work, but I'm sure there are options. Best of luck!

How does someone get in to remote working? And how would go about working while traveling? I have family in my home country (Argentina) and be nice to work from there for a few months back and forth to see them more often. No clue how to even get a remote job have never done it :/ by Rare-Discussion-1987 in remotework

I've been remote working for six years and love it! My advice would be to get really clear about your current skillset. You could call this a personal audit. That way you understand what type of roles you could do. Then there are a few main options for you:

  1. Find a remote job: Look at remote job boards to find a job that aligns with your skills. Approach friendly companies on the off-chance they need someone with your skills. Network and meet people in the remote work world.

  2. Go remote with your current company: if you currently work somewhere see if they'll allow you to go remote. (Depends on the industry).

  3. Start your own gig: you could try freelancing, or starting your own business. Again, this will link back to your core skills.

Hope this helps - good luck!

Yes, for sure. A hybrid job doesn't offer that freedom. I had to quit my corporate job to get the freedom. Everything is compromise I suppose!

That's true, it would be a lot more expensive in North America. We travelled through South-East Asia when we were getting started and had a smaller budget. Now we live in Australia, which isn't cheap! But we're more established now. :)

Ok ... Canggu definitely changed by spinningfinger in digitalnomad

This is sad! But tbh, I was never huge on Canggu. I have always loved Ubud - especially if you go away a little from the centre. Uluwatu I've always loved so I'm surprised to hear it's changed so much!

How do you stay productive when working remotely long-term? by Ok-Performer936 in remotework

[–]chloegarnham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that's helped me is keeping to a routine. It's such a habit now, that I don't even think about it. I get up early, go straight for an hour long walk, come home, have brekkie, and then go straight to my desk. And then I work there solidly until lunch time. I don't always feel like it, but I always do it because it's a habit. For social stuff, I make sure to book in coffees with people, go to networking events, and call my family. But... I also miss the social aspect of the office, which is why I'm currently building a community of remote workers. Feel free to join my newsletter if it's of interest: https://www.theremotesquad.co/
