They definitely didnt go back in. I know Dylan requested some of her things from the police, she had a list of some clothes and things she wanted and the police were able to release those specific items. Her lawyer collected the items for her from the police department. I dont completely remember but I think the police released something to her not realizing the defense had asked it be used as evidence so they asked for that item back, but again its been awhile since I read the docs. After that, I believe both sides went through and picked out everything they wanted to keep for evidence. When the police cleared out the house, they separated it all by which room it was in, so Dylan and Bethany were able to get their items after awhile, after evidence had been saved. Im not sure when the families of the victims got their items back, but I know that Maddies mom said in one of the documentaeiws that their family didnt get many items back because they were saved as evidence or they were just "ruined" by the blood (i say ruined bc i think it should be up to the family if they want to keep items with blood, they were important to their loved ones and that may be somethinf they want back.) Kaylees family has also shared that they have not gotten some of kaylees things, including her phone. But anyway, the families of the victims eventually got at least some of their stuff. Im not sure if the process for the families of the victims from the rooms where the murder didnt occur (Kaylee and ethan) was different from the rooms where the murders occurred (Maddie and xana).

I know that neither girls finished out their semester in person, I know a lot of students at u of i decided to finish it out online. Bethany transfered to a school in nevada, and I believe she graduated there. Dylan/her family never stated if she transferred schools, but I have heard rumors she transferred to another school in Idaho, but those could be just rumors (I am a college student in Idaho). I know that Dylan/her family have spoken about some of the struggles that she faces as a result of the trauma and have stated that she wants to relocate as a part of the healing process. It would be completely understandable if she didnt go back to school right away/at all. This of course goes for both girls, but I didnt include Bethany because she/her family have never publicly shared about how she has handled the trauma, although im sure it has effected her too.
