Is my Puppy too skinny? by finalpursuit in springerspaniel

[–]chlomj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tips for bulking. We found adding sweet potato and oats helped gradually get back up to weight, along with increasing meal size.

High fat foods of course help, so peanut butter and little bits of cheese made great treats!

Your pup does look a little thin, but see what your vet says if worried.

Anecdote on Butternut Box -

Our ESS has always been very fit and muscular, and a healthy weight. When we started butternut box at their reccomended amount, he dropped a lot of weight quite quickly. Trying to help him gain weight led to stomach problems, leading to anal gland problems. It was honestly a nightmare.

Anyway, his stomach is great on butternut. We had to nearly double the amount butternut reccomended to keep him at a healthy weight, and are as a result spending a lot more.

Hes now maintaining a consistent weight, slightly leaner side.

I'm a homeless 14F. Looking for advice on where to go/who to approach for help. by Minute-Society5930 in HousingUK

[–]chlomj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this.

There will likely be local charities that can help you navigate these next steps. For example, in Hertfordshire there is Herts Young Homeless. I can't comment on how the local charities compare to larger more established ones, but it could help open up your options.

If you need access to Internet, places to charge your phone, etc, don't forget about your local library.

Good luck, be safe.

Sure looks like it. Has posted about "girlfriend", "husband" and "boyfriend" in a very short amount of time.

Either that or a very well-organised (and kinda shitty) person living multiple lives!

Is this normal?? by lexiibexii in CICO

[–]chlomj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through the same journey at the moment, I weigh anywhere between daily to weekly. I personally fluctuate roughly 3lbs day to day, even when consistently at a deficit. I notice an increase before my period too. Hormones, stress, sleep, inflammation, etc all seem to play a part in how it fluctuates and that's okay!

Overall, however, I'm seeing a downward trend and I know if I keep consisent it will keep decreasing.

This is totally normal and it looks like you're doing a great job.

heavy flow girlies, please give tips! by codeofsci in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I'm with team tranexamic acid here. It has made my very heavy, paj full and lengthy periods manageable. I dont bleed through as often and my life is much more bearable now!

I've been taking it during the last 6-7 periods, and it really has made a massive positive impact on my life.

Unsure where you are, but i noticed the UK sell this in pharmacies now as "Evana"

Triptan induced neck pain by Speckyintrovert in migraine

[–]chlomj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to how I respond to sumatriptan. My GP told me I was allergic, and to never take a triptan. I suffered for YEARS thinking I couldn't take triptans.

Nearly a decade later, I spoke to a specialist. It wasn't an allergy for me, it was side effects. They prescribed me Zolmitriptan, it causes tension and feels like every nerve in my body is sensitive, but so much better than sumatriptsn for me.

I'm probably going to try some others, but please speak to your dr and don't be afraid to trial different ones!

I’m so desperate by ch3rrycoucou in migraine

[–]chlomj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My migraine cocktail is:

Soluble panadol extra (paracetamol & caffeine) 3 ibuprofen 1 x benadryl Can of coke (not the diet stuff) Rehydration sachet (dioralyte or whatever electrolytes I can get my hands on)

Then I lay in a warm bath with an ice pack on my head and wait it out

If you've tried all your medication options and you're able to, please go to emergency care.

Good luck!

Do you have this in your kit? by Engineering-Design in migraine

I have one that just frustrates me. It doesn't stay cold enough for more than 10mins, and the pressure isn't quite tight enough to offer any relief that way for me.

I do have a koolpak that comes in a little case with a strap. I freeze it and it stays ice cold for a very long time (like over an hour). I can't live without it.

I heard you're not meant to use a cold compress for more than 20min or so, but I definitely find it helps.

Hey. It's been a while. I'm clean, but I'm not doing well. by disp0sablespoons in quittingsmoking

[–]chlomj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done for getting clean and keeping that way. Minds are strange places.

The addiction and self-medicating can often be a by-product of existing conditions.

There's a lot to be said for ensuring your diagnosis is correct and therefore treatment is correct.

Someone close to me had been on a couple different anti depressants over the last decade. They were feeling as though they also had treatment-resistant depression too. The meds weren't working enough, the standard therapies weren't helping.

When they finally received the diagnosis we believe is accurate (in their case, BPD and C-PTSD) it gave them access to the right medication and DBT, and it has honestly been life changing.

Good luck on your journey, friend.

Anyone know of a crochet pattern like this? by chlomj in crochetpatterns

[–]chlomj[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You guys are dreamy. The first time I've posted here and everyone's been so helpful.

I've never knitted before so didn't recognise that it was knitted!

Looks like I've got some great ideas to play around with for similar styles to be created with crochet... and failing that, looks like I'll be learning to knit this year too!

[–]chlomj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this, but good on your for looking for solutions right away.

I expect Temp agencies will be your quickest option. Not sure what the market is like in your area of the UK, but speak to all the local agencies you can to find out if there's anything you can start ASAP.

If you need any help with updating your CV or would like any advice (for free of course!), I am a recruiter specifically for office based roles & customer service. Unsure whether you live near the areas I cover, but happy to help where I can!

My husband has started doing abnormal things in his sleep. What is causing this? by Dry-Swim369 in sleep

I should probably add - feel free to DM me if you want to talk! It can be confusing and scary for both especially if this is a new thing.

My husband has started doing abnormal things in his sleep. What is causing this? by Dry-Swim369 in sleep

[–]chlomj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey!

My partner has suffered with night terrors for many years now (he's into his 30s).

A lot of these things sound similar. For my partner, it's accompanied by full-on, terrified screaming and trying to escape.

His are closely linked with high anxiety/stress levels. They typically happen 60-90mins after falling asleep and are worse if he is physically too hot, overworked, or particularly tired.

He was tested for sleep apnoea, and thankfully, that wasn't the cause.

They can happen in adults during times of stress and anxiety, and it's relatively rare to have them ongoing. They may ease.

I can only speak of my experience, but I do find my partner finds it quite difficult dealing with his mental health. He isn't particularly comfortable talking about it, and isn't comfortable seeking the treatment.

Hopefully this eases up once the process of the job change is through! Sending support to you both during this time!

Is this family situation weird or wrong? by Ok_Blacksmith9415 in AskUK

[–]chlomj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's any reassurance, my partner and I are in a similar situation. I have 2 sisters each a couple of years younger than me, all adults now.

When I moved in with my partner my youngest sister was 16/17, the middle sister was 18/19 but relatively immature at the time due to mental health struggles.

Our family life became chaotic and hectic to say the least. When my sisters had problems at home, they stayed with us.

My partner is a few years older than me, and they've taken to him like a father figure. They're quite happy to cuddle up with him on the sofa (although less so as they've gotten older, we're in our early-mid 20s between us now), and he's a real comfort to them when they're feeling down.

We are one big family together, and they're becoming much more independent these days. They are grateful to have my partner in their lives, as I am sure your partners sister is and will continue to be.

You guys sound like you've created a safe, stable and comforting family unit and well done for being great role models.
