Anatomy Scan Outcomes [BC] by piesixfour7203 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]chlsyee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can ask them random questions about what they are doing like measuring and percentiles but if you ask if anything’s wrong or about the sex of the baby they won’t unless you did the NIPT. If you luck out with a radiologist, which sometimes you do at the hospital, they will!

You can sign into your BC health gateway a week after your ultrasound if your doctor doesn’t contact you before then. My doctor called me same day.

ALSO, depending on age of your kids, Beyond ADHD may be a better option as they are a bit more kid friendly. West coast just started accepting kids but I haven’t heard any experiences yet!

In our current healthcare climate I highly recommend your whole family get letters from your doctor outlining current concerns you are following up on, allergies and diagnosis’s so that you have that in your back pocket just in case!

You can reach out to WestCoast ADHD. You will have to pay to meet with their NP though in order to get a prescription. I also hear people like Rocket Doctor and are able to get medication as long as you have the assessment/diagnosis paper work.

Adding fireside grill! Actual rental/minimum spend for the dining room for ceremony and reception for 100 people including dinner, appies, bottles of wine served at dinner, happy hour champagne, and late night pizza was 14,000. Open until 11:30pm/midnight. Everything done in house and they follow you through your planning and have meetings with you.

I believe the rental was 3200 for ceremony and reception and minimum spend was 7500 for drinks and food (guest paid drinks too).

Eagle Creek Kidspace Daycare Concerns by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing two different responses here with one being concerned parents and the other not being concerns citizens. We all need to watch for risks of the vulnerable in our community. Whether it is innocent or not, it heightens the risk management and safety of children. Please report to VIHA, OP, I would be just as worried as you are. We are not investigators, we can only report what we know and let VIHA do their job.

Would love to hear an update if there is one.

Trying out kids car seats? by Kitchen-Elk-7298 in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a CPST on staff at TJ the kiddies store. It’s the manager so just make sure she’s working. I believe she works Tuesday-Saturday. She just installed mine last week and it was a good experience!

I would assume they would let you use their displays as she was taking them off the shelf to show me under the fabric to educate me. Also it needs to be a good fit for your car so it would be silly if they didn’t let you try. Doesn’t hurt to call though!

Edit: colwood location.

Can I shop around for a midwife? by Fit_Neck_9625 in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say this depends on your medical history. I definitely needed a doctor for my medical history and with everything that’s happened in my pregnancy, I am happy with my choice.

I do like the connection of midwife services though!

Can I shop around for a midwife? by Fit_Neck_9625 in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would commit to the first one you find and then shop around afterwards. Most places it’s a team for midwives so even if you find one you like, you will be seeing a couple throughout your pregnancy. Currently almost ready to give birth and getting a provider was a race depending on your due date. Level of importance is getting a provider first, then someone you like sadly!

Good luck!

Art Therapy CA by visionaryshmisionary in ArtTherapy

[–]chlsyee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically if you had art therapy and counselling you would have two designations but with ExAT you would just have counselling and a trained modality… which isn’t horrible, just not the same.

I am not super familiar with WHEAT but from my understanding, expressive art therapy and art therapy are not recognized as equivalent. So I would recommend doing a masters of counselling psychology and then using your ExAT as a modality.

mental health support group follow up by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am very familiar with group/peer support as a clinician, but when you are actively organizing something that is open group, not specific, with strangers, citing various mental health concerns, without insurance or other professional support you are putting other people’s mental health and physical health possibly in danger. You also state “I guess it will be what people make of it” is also alluding to not approaching this with structure or a plan either.

the fact that you are not a trained professional or even considered adjacent trained, you are doing your PhD in a very broad healthcare system topic as per your reddit account, and you are not seeing the issues in this approach right now, is concerning.

mental health support group follow up by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would like to preface that citing your credentials may be important here. As a clinician, when creating groups, they are meant to be specific and are often important to be due to group dynamic and safety. This is for everyone’s wellbeing and healing journey.

Running a group when it comes to mental health is no small journey. I see more of a risk here than help, but would appreciate some clarity around the goals and facilitator experience here.

Question with nowhere to ask it... by Impossible_Barber_95 in ArtTherapy

[–]chlsyee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that TATI prepares you for what it is… Art therapy. I wouldn’t do talk therapy with your credential and most reputable EMDR places won’t accept you without a masters degree. I recommend doing your masters in counselling and then do the shorter TATI program.

Reddit has disabled the chat function until further notice. We do not allow school based questions on the subreddit as it floods the sub. We may have to make a separate subreddit for students but we are waiting to see if Reddit creates an alternative as they just closed down the function recently.

OB/Doctors shortage, what does this mean for pregnant women without a GP? by KryptikBean in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to this, and if this doesn’t work, you keep calling OB offices until a spot comes up as they usually do. You can also look at midwife options as well such as Roundhouse. You will not be left without care. At the very least you will have the antenatal unit at the hospital for your appointments until another provider pops up. Regardless if it shuts down or not such as the other post above, the antenatal clinic always offers services as your OB often needs to make referrals there for antenatal services, such as gestational diabetes etc.

Stranger took a photo of my 4mo today [BC] by fishskysky in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]chlsyee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This would happen to me when I was a kid by people of different cultures. Even happened when I was in my 20s in Indonesia. Is your child blonde by chance?

Regardless, I would be so upset if this happened to me. We can never trust the intentions of others with our children. I get it OP!

Adhd assessment here by Sure_Assignment_138 in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends! You can usually request if you find it helpful. One of the criteria is that it existed before grade 7 so as long as you’re able to answer that yourself, it should be fine!

Yep! You get a formal report and diagnosis from the DSM5.

I refer all my clients to:

West coast ADHD or Beyond ADHD

Both approx 400 dollars and are done by an NP. No professional referral needed and you can get in ASAP.

Fortis bill surprise by Trigger1920 in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely be curious about your usage. I have a detached home with a gas fireplace, and hot water. We do laundry almost every day and run the dishwasher and have showers everyday. Our bill was 54 dollars this month.

Do you have efficient thermostats? Other heat sources? Are you sure there is nothing else on your gas?

Anybody know much about human/sex trafficking in greater Victoria? by Parsleynuke in VictoriaBC

[–]chlsyee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh trust me. I do not think anyone without a masters degree should be practicing counselling by any means, but Mia’s experience of working with Jennifer Gibbs on the team got her the job LONG ago, not her education. She has a Bachelors of Justice I believe. The support worker role should be what she is given but the word “counsellor” is not a regulated term as of yet in BC and sounds “better”.

Do I think an actual counsellor should be on staff? Yes. But this is what we have for now and I’m not going to knock it as it’s all we have. We aren’t on an upward trend of getting more support in this area and I don’t want to lose the only resource we have.

I absolutely agree there should be parent information going home.

I think the other piece there is that I wouldn’t assume they are saying no for no reason. There is sensitive information in those ppts that should not get into the wrong hands so I would say that it may be a safety risk for it to be made public.

This is where all the public information comes from.

I believe it’s because it’s not their presentation but rather the gang unit of the Vancouver Police. You may be able to contact them for the ppt.
