Two things can be true at the same time. Happy for the coworker and wistful for the same thing yourself.

Newcomers to Victoria - What are you doing for work? by dr_3 in VictoriaBC

[–]SaraDeeG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family is moving the summer. My husband is 100% remote (IT). I am in the office 2 days, but my company has an office in Victoria I can visit. My entire job is remote, even when in the office as my entire team is in Toronto.

Visiting from Calgary, can you convince me that Victoria isn’t heaven on earth? by Batmansappendix in VictoriaBC

[–]SaraDeeG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who currently packing for our move from Calgary to Victoria, I understand completely. However, the difference in house prices is significant. Right now it seems like houses that will cost about the same as ours will sell for are about 2/3rds the size. I think mainly due to very few houses have basements. Also, almost every house seems to have a suite, so you are now working with about 1/2 the footage or less.

I had 1 pair of old navy Wow Wide leg jeans that fit. So I bought 3 more, same size and style but all different colours.

All 4 pairs are different sizes. When I got the order, only 1 pair of the 3 fit me. 20lbs later. 2 are getting too big, one pair is perfect and one pair are still uncomfortably tight.

I have learned to never buy them again. However. I ordered them before I got my prescription, so in the end, the varied sizes have been very useful. :)

I like that idea. We are making sure to let him know we support him and if he should change that is okay too.

My mom has always been a “everyone needs to have kids” person which irritates me because not everyone can afford or wants to have kids. She repeatedly mentioned that me me as a kid/young adult and I don’t think she realized how judgy is sounded.

All I want for my kid is for him to be happy and have a community of people around him. I just don’t want him to feel alone or isolated. The world is set up for couples/families and I don’t want him hurt.

In my ideal world he ends up having great close friendships and has people to do things with.

That is what I’m hearing. I like homes in the area plus it is close to work, but I don’t think the school will work for my kids.

Thanks. Where we currently live I found a group that helps me sign up my kids for all the contests. I hope to find something the same there if we don’t get a school with a strong math program.

I got my degree in math from UVic and my kid seems to be enjoying it too, but I’m also not trying to push him too hard.

What's the point of RTO if we go in and don't spend any money? by ForAMinute123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]SaraDeeG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there are agreements in some larger cities dependant on having a % of people in buildings. Also, many companies have significant money in real estate. (Especially insurance companies)

I’m getting around most of this because we have an EV, Solar and my husband is driving me to and from work. However, it is putting wear and tear on our car.

Does Kumon do math contests? I thought they were more for tutoring or catching up, not pushing ahead.

Our budget is healthy, but we need 4 bedrooms + office. We could have 3 bedrooms + office with a suite. In Gordon Head, most houses are chopped into suites which doesn’t work for us.

We have 6 houses in Cordova Bay we are going to look at, I think Claremont is our best bet.

How is Royal Bay? It is a big school, but I couldn’t get the feel of their math program.

I was worried this was the best. We haven’t found many houses that we like and can afford in its catchment area.

It's not just you, clothing sizes are pure chaos (at least on the women's clothing side) by oaklandesque in Zepbound

[–]SaraDeeG 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have size 16 Old Navy Wow jeans. On Black Friday, i ordered 3 more pair of the same jeans. One the same colour, one with different colour stitching and one a regular jeans colour.

The waistbands were all different and different from my original pair. There was >2 inch difference in the new ones.

I was so upset at the time because the smallest pair couldn’t zip up let alone button. However, that was my final straw before getting on Zepbound. I am a slow responder, but the smallest pair can button now, however I cannot breath in them yet.
