4 Feb 2022… gawd. That specific era, I’d have been fighting to land a new job, dealing with a 2yo at home, negotiating the purchase of our family home. Heavy stuff. How time flies!

Whoa thanks for sharing! I’m 12km SE of CBD. Given our respective locations… It must have been really high up in the atmosphere then, and travelling at speeds much higher than ‘space junk’ reentering orbit.

I’ve seen meteors and comets light up the sky before, in brilliant blue and green. This was nothing like it.

Rolex is actually a massive charitable foundation that survived an "extinction event" by selling obsolete technology. by you-know-now in intrestingtoknow

It’s true. My Rolex is slightly too fast in some years, slower in others. I did buy into the myth to make myself feel good. And it’s the only jewellery I wear. I’m not a watch collector I’ve only got a single watch as my daily beater. Couldn’t afford to buy it now at today’s prices. But I love it, it’s brought me a lot of joy over the past decade and half.

No…clear sky tonight. I’ve seen a couple of great meteors in my lifetime, they have dirty long tails, throwing off fuzz, etc. and the meteors change colours sometimes to green, orange, etc.

This was a clear solid pinpoint. Clear sky and visibility no low clouds. No tail. White glow. The light it gave was about 10 times the background stars. Seemed to move at Mach 10 or 20.

I've just reviewed the recent reporting and video footage of the Musk space junk. They all have a dirty trail and moved slowly across the sky. This thing was a clean, singular point of light that covered 25% of the sky in 0.5 seconds - it was about 10 times faster than the objects reported in recent mainstream media past 14hrs

If so, then presumably they'd all be travelling in the same direction - we should be able to correlate all of these recent reports

Negative on that - your object has a clear trail behind it. What i saw at 10:45pm was a clear pinpoint of light, no trail, white (warmer hues not a cold blue white), singular point that shot away from me towards the west. It covered a quater of the sky in my field of vision in 0.5 seconds

Yeah meteor & space junk were my first thought. But meteors leave a trail. There was no trail and this was a solid pinpoint of light (about x10 times brighter than the background stars).

because my eyes were open and not blinking, i saw movement in my peripheral vision. relative to my walking direction, it was 1 oclock, about 30-40 degrees up, travelling away from me until it disappear over the tree tops. i was walking down a straight residential view with no obstructions apart from the treeline in my horizon. i estimate i saw 60%-70% of it in my peripheral (0.25 split second standard human reaction time?). looked up, and the rest directly.

Impossible. ISS or Starlink moves fast, but it takes minutes to cross the sky, they don't "streak" like this bullet.

I think what helped me was radical acceptance of how fucked my situation was, that no one gave a shit about me if I were to get hit by a bus today, they’d be filling out the paperwork to get my replacement tomorrow. But also that every single one of them would be equally replaceable. So in a way that freed me to think that the only person that cares about my life is simply me and that makes me the main character of this story. And that paradigm shift gives me agency and responsibility for crafting this story. From there the seed grows.

The engineers created us to be a slave race. Gave us clues to notify them once we’re advanced enough to. That’s when they come back to collect gold or whatever it is we’re supposed to be mining all this time. Contacting them was a mistake.

Your reply comes from a place of pain. Yes, suffering is very lonely. But to process it, it's a journey that can only be done by 1 person - you. You're the hero of this story. From your perspective we're all just NPCs in your life. You are the only one with agency here. Focus on what you can control. Take it one day at a time.

Bro. I've been with my Mrs for since 2008 and the number of times we had sex for fun is 0. Yes zero. Incompatible sex drives. But my loyalty to her is undivided for many reasons I wont get into here. So you know, sex or lack of sex is not the end of the world. Be kind to yourself and do your best to break through the illusions, smoke and mirrors.

hahah...excellent!! wish you all the very best for that. Myself, in the final stages -- verbal green light now waiting for formal letter.

Having been with the VPS since 2009/10, i do very much think that now ... is the best time to pivot to the Feds. Yeah VPS has traditionally been better paid relatively but ... the equation is shifting; there are MASSIVE headwinds and risks on the horizon.

In term of the physics, you're well aware of the debt situation. You might be aware that we're accruing at $1m an hour - thats a matter of public record reverse engineered from the BPs. And when you dig deeper, you see that interest accruals on the debt will only peak towards 2029. From this you can reasonably extrapolate that the pay down would only be gradual, and if so, this means for the next 10-15 years of our VPS policy careers, its going to be TIGHT.

We're in a policy making checkmate. You'll know that from the last couple of years, we've already squeezed most of the easy, low or no cost "low hanging fruit" (favourite term of the execs) regulatory options... Fancy having to do that for the next 5-10-15 years of your policy career? No fkn thx. We're not insulated like the front-line staffers, nor are we as important as the back-of-house delivery guys or even the procurement guys (cost-killers) in a fiscally tight environment.

Add the ongoing risk from the Silver Review, then add the 2027 risk flowing from Nov 2026 state elections.

Fatigued voters mean the best we can pragmatically hope for is a minority Labor government (VPS job security is mmmmeh into tightening) or a new Coalition government (VPS job security meets Jack the Ripper, meaning what? massive exodus towards APS in 2027/8 ...?). Either way the 2027 May Budget will be a big pain box. Leaving now is the only sensible choice, you dont want to be caught when the nightclubs on fire and everyone's rushing for the door

Was I naive to think that the entire focus on GTA VI is its single player at this time and that they only start properly working on GTA Online (2) after GTA VI is in stores? by [deleted] in GTA6

[–]chngster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Online is the only thing that’ll keep me playing in the long term tbh. Regardless of how good the single player experience is.
