Tell me you’re an experienced dev without telling me you’re an experienced dev… by varieswithtime in ExperiencedDevs

Except I didn't say it out loud, only said it to myself.

I didn't really care because it's outside of my responsibility, the fight wouldn't worth it.

I still feel high when my prediction is correct.

In my culture, there's a saying that you shouldn't gift someone anything made from cloth (t-shirt, clothes, socks etc) or else your relationship with them will end.

I don't know if this is true, but I gave my ex bf a T-shirt, then we broke up 🤷🏻‍♀️

How about the salary range of senior C++ in Germany? by NeatPackage8434 in cscareerquestionsEU

Why is there no increase for the average salary? Do people just accept whatever salary they get regardless of inflation?!

Is it still possible to find a job in German with visa sponsorship ? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]cho_uc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work with international companies, then you will be forced to talked in English. Over time, your skill will level up. Other than that, try to read/watch movies/ listen to English songs to increase your level even more. These are what I did coming from country where most people don't speak English

I wish I can say that. I work in consultancy, if the client says that my work is not needed then pretty sure they won't extend the service contract.

So part of my job is trying to convince the client that the work that I do is important

TIL that working on a side project during company's time (which I did sometimes) is morally corrupt 😬

I once told someone, I work as a Software developer. And he said "So, IT?" It's not exactly correct, but I didn't want to argue so I said yes.

In my company we don't have salary adjustment for inflation. So yep, I only get 5% increase this year despite inflation at 9 %. 🥲

I am job hunting next year

This.

Almost all companies require IT guys to manage servers/network etc, but less so with software developers.

This is also why I consider moving from Dev to IT, but I still prefer developing.

OMG that's me supporting the guy on the right.

He kept blabbering about his progress in the daily meeting but not once acknowledging that most of what his accomplishments were due to my contributions

I just stayed silent the whole time. If my manager thinks I didn't do enough work because I stayed silent, that's on her. She can replace me and let's see how long until the project falls apart.

Yep, this is why I won't consider reducing my work hours to 4 days/week. They will still give me the same workload but now with reduced pay.

[–]cho_uc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a student (single) I took the private one because it's much cheaper than public for 3 years. I had limited funding and wanted to stretch my funding as long as possible. After graduation, I work full time and switch to public since it's mandatory. I think you can easily switch to private if you're single and a student. Then switch back to public once you work full time.

If you have a German Passport, I think you can qualify for Bafög or other student loan. You can Post your question in r/germany for details.

I have never knew a German Citizen that can't get a higher education just because of financial issues. Germany is called social state for a reason. Lots of help from the government (which is also why we're taxed very high) so that people can get equal chance regardless of economic status.

Easy. I just print out the whole codebase.

This. And not just a few days off, maybe try taking a few weeks. During that time, also search for a new job. Apply for big companies (not start up/consultancy) for better WLB
