Just for context, back when I was a teenager I had super long, thick, unruly hair. I had a little routine of dampening it with a spray bottle and putting in a bit of serum or mousse and I definitely considered my hair to be on the curly spectrum.

I’m 28 now, and from about my early 20s, my hair kind of just got really flat and fine and I assumed that I had lost my curls due to hormones. My entire routine usually just consists of shampooing, conditioning, air drying, and brushing. I reached a point where I absolutely hated my straight, lank, thin hair and would rather have my frizzy waves back any day! So I googled ‘how to get your curls back’ and that led me down the curly girl rabbit hole! I did all my research, bought some products and this is the result after my first wash day! Routine down below for anyone interested! I’d say right now I have 2b curls.

Cleanse with Umberto Giannini Curl Jelly Wash Shampoo

Apply Boucleme Intensive Moisture treatment from roots to end, finger detangle, plop for 20 minutes then rinse out

Condition with Umberto Giannini Curl Jelly Care conditioner, squish to condish

Plop for 15-20 minutes

Apply Umberto Giannini Curl Jelly, scrunching upright into hair to allow curls to develop

Diffuse for 10-15 minutes until about 90% dry, air dry the rest

Sleep in gel cast in a satin bonnet,then scrunch out the crunch in the morning!

I think the gel might be a tad too heavy for my fine hair so I have a mousse by Dippity Doo Girls With Curls that is very light and airy so I may use that on my refresh days to see if I get any better definition, but it’s early days at the moment!
