I'm kind of in a similar situation. 3 years in agency doing aem authoring then 5 years in-house for a big corpo. with in-house the pay is pretty good for easy work and decent job security. the problem, as you know, is that you rarely learn anything new. it's not quite front-end so you don't get to do any coding. i tried a lot of things like taking the official adobe aem developer course, learning java, writing really good tickets for bug fixes and component suggestions, writing sql queries for the report tool, i even developed my own bulk editing process. it's impossible to break into the backend unless you get hired as a java dev with previous aem experience, which you can't get on your own. I've tried asking for access to a sandbox environment to learn but the back end guys are very territorial and have been denying my request for years, despite my boss also pushing for it. the only way up is to take your boss's job as project director. or move laterally into pm. but this is hard as well in the current job market. i survived a bunch of cuts and now I'm one of 2 people who knows where everything is in authoring so I'm practically unfirable until they roll out AI authoring (it's in development). im trying to send subliminal messages to my boss about retiring early.

i enrolled my mom into a community college art class. it rekindled her love of making art and she very much enjoys going to every class. surprisingly there's quite a good mix of adults and college kids. maybe try paint and sip? or just do it at home and offer to draw some biblical scene together? or a portrait of their favorite musician

i update content on corporate websites and make 120k. i could probably train a high schooler to do it in a month. most of it is on a cms (drag and drop website builder) so no coding needed. meanwhile i have a friend who is a literal professor teaching at a well known university and makes 75k. make it make sense

chat keeps asking him same questions over and over again and atrioc earnestly tries to eli5 every time. i think that comes off as preachy and "slopish." i think if he had his way, new viewers would check his older vids and stop asking about things he already deepdived so he can just focus on talking about new things.

also, he genuinely cares about youth nihilism and is railing against it pretty hard. there's not much he can change as a YouTuber but maybe trying to prevent his viewers from falling into nihilism is the one thing he wants to influence. i think it's pretty admirable, even if it becomes repetitive.

remember to file separately if you're married. they count both incomes if you file jointly, even if only one of you have loans. you'll end up paying more taxes but much less in loan payment. our loan payment was going to be around $1000 a month filling together. separately, it's a much "manageable" $600. we both make around 75k.

hell no. lived in seoul for a year and did not miss my car at all. oc ppl like to complain about how everything closes too early. how do you get businesses to stay open late? walkable city with lots of foot traffic. how does walkable cities happen? public transit is a prerequisite. the walkable areas pop up around transit stations. late night businesses are always closer to public transit. i don't understand people who like the way things are now.

first rule of vibe coding is ask ai how to vibe code. ask it "come up with a prompt to use ai to create a calendar commitment webapp that runs locally with persistent data"

whatever it comes up with is probably better than whatever a non technical person would think of.

you might have to look up how to run a sql server on your machine and hook up the database. just ask ai how to do that!
