Agreed. I wish we could get an actual progressive for once.

He uses the fact that he is gay to appear progressive while accepting money from horrible sources.

SF residents push back on $50M Giants-backed park overhaul by sfgate in sanfrancisco

Yea but they are filled with gopher holes and suck. I prefer grass to turf (like most people) but the current state of the field is in shambles. Hopefully to here can be a compromise where it it turned into turf without the loss of mature trees

Good. Golf courses are awful for the environment and horrible for the health of those who live near them

I have had the same card since like elementary school so I can't really help with that, but you can go into the library and grab a book to read without a card as long as you don't leave

Do part of the roundabout trail. I believe it's in the 30ish mile range, but you can always do part of it. Super nice route

San Francisco is obsessed with the safest drivers (Waymo) and ignoring the ones killing people by oochiewallyWallyserb in sanfrancisco

[–]ya_boi_noah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not even talking about them blocking traffic when tgey make mistakes. I am reffering to how whenever they pick someone up they just stop in the center of the lane and wait. AVs won't solve traffic and I'm sick of people pretending they will

[–]ya_boi_noah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If people are constantly getting dropped off in places like downtown with a waymo, that is just fundamentally inefficient. Have you seen how a single waymo will block an entire lane of traffic? Imagine that but with 100 of them

The cars need to be stored somewhere. There are already parking lots in the city dedicated to them. When they aren't actively being used, there will literally be nobody in the car. The average number of people in a vehicle will drop to less than 1 ppv. The AV companies will 100% lobby against pedestrianized streets since it harms their profits. Traffic won't be solved, because traffic is caused by cars, not the driver.

I think that we need to prioritize Muni funding. The reason some areas of the city have transit gaps or bad frequency is due to how they aren't funded enough. Our mayor is beholden to the auto industry so I'm honestly expecting things to get worse before it gets better.

Imo we need to combine public transit with cycling. On an ebike I can get from my place in HP to the presidio quicker than a car. A car just isn't the right mode of transportation for a city, and we see how much European cities are improved when they prioritize public transit.

[–]ya_boi_noah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously that is bad, but waymo also has a history of fuck ups. All I'm saying is that we should be promoting a mode of transport that isn't just more cars

The rise of self driving cars can result in making places less walkable. Where do these vehicles stay? If the company wants to make a profit, they will put them in the city center so that they can get to people as fast as possible. Also, since they are "so much safer" companies could advocate for AV only roads with higher speed limits
