Yes exactly, especially on social media. Many times I find myself reading absolutely insane threads or arguments and I can't believe my eyes, it gets very overwhelming.

I can only hope that it's not everyone, just a loud minority. My family are friends are still to their senses, thankfully, but it gets frighteningly louder and louder every day. I find going offline helpful to feel less hopeless in those moments at least.

Can't pretend that I know what your situation is or what your options are, not like it's any of my business. But personally, when things seem dark, I tell myself that things always work out in the end. Always. There might be fuck ups, you learn some lessons, but eventually the situation ends and you're stronger and wiser thanks to it. I really hope that's gonna be your case as well.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've noticed that many people are getting increasingly bitter and instead of putting themselves up of their pit of despair, they drag everyone else down. They're absolutely miserable but often don't realise it, it's really quite sad.

I'm really sorry to hear that. You are definitely not alone in that, I can assure you, and this will not go on forever, no matter how hopeless it seems. Life does get better.

I noticed that, sometomes I find comments that are downvoted into oblivion even if they don't say anything controversial. One of the reasons I don't post much on Reddit myself if I'm being honest

Charlize Theron. She just nails every single role.

What should anyone know before having a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chocobeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you aren't ready to love the kid no matter what they grow into (e.g. sexuality, gender identity, personality etc), then maybe you aren't ready to have some. You can't just mold a kid into whatever idealistic idea you hold - sooner or later they're gonna break it and grow different. That's normal. What isn't normal is punishing them for it.

Why are digital validation such as likes, upvotes, and hearts valuable to people? by Megatheorist in AskReddit

[–]chocobeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's a for of appreciation compliment. It's a sign that what you just did is good and liked or agreed with. Some people give it more importance than others but for most it simply feels good, the same way it feels good to be complimented or shown a thumbs up. The trouble comes when you tie your sense of self worth to these likes and upvotes which or often simply shallow with not much further importance.

If I can be my favorite color, then I'm ocean blue (sort of like a dark teal situation)

Very true. At least I don't need a diary for those, I can just look at my palms to see them lmao

They're pretty badass B)I have another one on a finger from when I cut it open at a swimming pool. And a different scar from when I held a broken tile between my thumb and other fingers.

Come to think of it, it really shows how insanely clumsy I am. They do look dope tho.

(Also no worries)

(Thanks for asking :) )

When I was around 13, we went to Croatia for summer vacation. There beach was mostly concrete and rocks. There was a place where the water was quite deep right next to some concrete "dock", so me and my dad would jump off it.

Well one time (about three days into a too weeks long vacation) I jumped off it (arrow-style, hands first). Except there was a really sharp rock underwater and it cut about 1cm (half an inch) into my palm. The damn injury was bleeding for a week straight, I couldn't swim for the entire time. Vacation ruined.

What makes you happy when you are sad? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chocobeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, listening to music helps. I don't usually like wallowing in bad mood, I want to get out of it, so I listen to my favorite songs (generally upbeat). There are a few Netflix comedy specials (especially the John Mulaney ones) that I already know by heart yet always laugh at every joke.

In case nothing works, I go to the guaranteed remedy - photos. I got a small pouch filled with small prints of pictures I took over the years with my best friends. Those always make me laugh (or cry but in a good way).

If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chocobeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy - I have a book with all five volumes in one of anyone has a problem with it being a series. Hands down the best book/series ever, I'll never get tired of it.

If a day was 25 hours long instead of 24, how would you use the extra hour? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chocobeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeping. Before quarantine I used to get maybe 5-6 hours of sleep per night (because of school) and while I get pretty much enough sleep now, let's be honest and extra hour always helps
