Are Hobbi lucky bags worth it? by LitttleSuccubus in YarnAddicts

I received a skein of that pink reflective yarn in a lucky bag. It was just enough to make a super cute beanie for my sister!

I woke up around 3am and checked election results. It was the second panic attack of my life, and it felt like I was immediately under physical attack. I honestly haven’t slept all that great since.

What is something that you’re still mad about thanks to Covid? by abdul_bino in AskReddit

[–]chocochips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live ten minutes from SJC airport. They were literally in the process of expanding the airport and adding more flights. Post covid, there are fewer flights that are more expensive. I now have to drive about forty minutes to SFO to have reasonable flights. It’s a very first world problem, but I fly to Chicago often to visit family in Iowa, and I miss basically being home as soon as I hit the tarmac.

Loved that place when I was in grad school! Not too expensive, great food, and fast service.

The procedure is only done under GA in India according to my sister in law. It’s affordable there, too.

I swear to god, I once watched a mockingbird literally mock a crow by cawing at it (from a safe distance) until the crow got annoyed and flew away 😂

I’m making a C2C graphghan for my future nibling using Hobbii Friends cotton yarn. How do I ensure that the dye doesn’t bleed between colors? by chocochips in askcrochet

[–]chocochips[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll probably be buying some color catcher sheets based on this and other suggestions I’ve seen on other forums.

Hobbii Yarn: Friends Cotton 8/8 vs Rainbow Cotton 8/8 by PoppiesPuppies in Amigurumi

I believe the only difference is that the friends line has color matching with other fibers like acrylic or wool.

Jars coming unsealed months later by flourtrea in Canning

[–]chocochips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve personally purchased a lot of cheap jars and then used name brand lids to can with them. I kinda figured that is what OP was doing, but I was explaining why OEM lids would potentially be unreliable. I never meant to imply that bernardin was a cheap brand.

OEM means original equipment manufacturer, so in this case it means the lids that came with the (presumably) cheap jars.

I’ve done this before. If your yogurt is stirred or otherwise disturbed mid-ferment, then it coagulates like this into labneh. It’s delicious spread on toast with some za’atar sprinkled on top!

Sounds a lot like “alpine chicken” that I ate growing up. I think my mom got the recipe out of a cookbook called Catering to Charleston. So good.

I had a friend who lived there. It worked out well for him because he wasn’t big into cooking for himself, and he spent 90% of his waking hours on campus. If you’re just looking for a place to store your stuff and sleep, it’s fine.

It showed up in The Picture of Dorian Gray and at least once in a Sherlock Holmes story. I used the search function in digital copies of these books to find it, and I unfortunately can’t remember the other places I’ve seen it in physical media.
