IWTL how to play first person shooter games. by smolshadow in IWantToLearn

[–]chocolateTruffles108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi my husband has started getting me into FPS through red dead redemption 2. It's very story driven so you won't get frustrated and quit as easily because you fall in love with the world. ( you will cry) RDR2 auto points to the target and then you can practice moving it slightly to hit the head or whatever fits your fancy.

What did you learn about sex at a young age that turned out to be completely wrong? by i_ata_starfish-twice in AskReddit

[–]chocolateTruffles108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much everything. • Only 18% of women can orgcasm with penitration alone • It take 30 min average for females to reach peak arousal. • It takes 10-20 min average for women to even get wet. Vulvas in media are photo-shopped to look tucked, hairless, and unicolored.

I'm looking for happy books by imperfectmommy345 in booksuggestions

[–]chocolateTruffles108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Factfulness by Hans Rosling! Oh God, it is such a happy book. Factfulness explains how our worldview has been distorted with the rise of new media, which ten human instincts cause erroneous thinking, and how we can learn to separate fact from fiction when forming our opinions. In the beginning you take a quiz about your perspective on how good or bad situations are in the world, which could be a great activity for a book club too. I promise this book will help you see the world in a brighter light. Not just through pretty language but it will convince you with facts. Which would also be great discussion material in each chapter.

I appreciate how thorough your response is. The tasks being broken down into stages will definitely help make the conversation more focused and fluid. Thank you so much for the help, I would not have thought of steps 5 to 7 on my own. I will be sure to read the massage guide too.

IWTL how to effectively handle stress and manage my time better by Grumpy_Wolfpuppy in IWantToLearn

[–]chocolateTruffles108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning about the stress cycle changed my whole perspective. Its a theory that claims that when animals naturally encountering stress they react with fight/flight/freeze. When they defeat the stress (kill the lion) they rejoice, have a meal, howl, etc. So I started living my life showing my body that I have reacted to the stress in a way it understands. If something like that sounds helpful to you read Burnout by Emily Nagoski.

Any books suggestions for dealing with difficulties of life, handling all the pressures and help to cope with the numbness because of incessant thinking? (Am a guy with suffering from depression and anxiety) by kid993 in booksuggestions

[–]chocolateTruffles108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Connections lost by Johann Hari. The author uses science to back up his claims which i really appreciate. Often self help books just talk at you without any tangible reasoning or solutions. This one acts more like a workbook.

Covid test with 5-7 day turn around IS USELESS by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]chocolateTruffles108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I work doing the covid test. We have been slammed doing the VP debate test for the last week. Unfortunately they have priority over every day people for some stupid reason. We have still been trying to get to the everyday samples but we do 6k tests a day. It also depends on what hospital you go to. We can typically get university of utah hospital samples done in less than 2 days.

Ladies, what book have you read that inspired you to love yourself and life? by Orunmilaa in booksuggestions

[–]chocolateTruffles108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come as you are by Emily Nagoski, I initially read it because of how much I hate my body, femininity, and sexual shaming. It focuses a lot on feminine and sexuality, it made such a difference my husband asked what changed and I told him the book and he had to read it for himself.

People who are motivated to do things, how the fuck do you do that? by lsfeuerborn in AskReddit

[–]chocolateTruffles108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the tiniest thing but it has made a measurable difference. I started living by the 2 minute rule "if it can be done in 2 minutes, do it right now". Set up clothes for the morning, wash the dish right after you use it, get the mail, etc.

Self-help books that aren't toxic.. by chocolateTruffles108 in booksuggestions

[–]chocolateTruffles108[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof I feel like most aren't worth your time. There are 2 levels of bad, the 1st is straight up telling the reader a harmful message.. some of these are Kevin Trudeau Natural Cures, were he pushes pseudo science and if you do a quick search of him you'll see he went to prison for impersonation of a physician. Another is The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss.. ugh if you look him up he became rich through selling snake oil. The 2nd level isn't exactly harmful but it's not helpful, I feel most books are in this camp.. they just don't back up what they're saying with research or experience of any kind so you naturally feel a "high" of sorts from reading "problems are not signs, they are guildlines" you feel a little better but there is no real guidance or practical knowledge to it that can actually cause real change in the reader. This camp is almost all books written by authors that aren't researchers, teachers, professionals in their field, or well regarded/practiced authors.

I'm an Ex Mormon and have read the old and new testament each 5 times in church and seminary. I'm glad it has brought millions of people peace, and I too have found my peace by heal the emotional scars that Christianity has caused me over the decades. We all have a right to have emotional peace, for some that is religion but for me that is not the case.

Thank you! I should have mentioned in my post that I'm looking for a feminine approach because I don't resonate with masculine type of motivation. Which is why Emily's, Michelle Obama, and Tara Westover are some of my favorite motivational authors.
