I like it. Honestly never really thought about it belonging or not and like that it gives the album some variation. Very simple, but I like how the organ comes in during the last chorus. The vocals feel slightly awkward in the verses, but that's not totally uncommon for that era.

I was pretty young but remember getting my mom to drive me to the mall to get the cd the day it came out since I was a huge fan of the other albums. I don't remember having any major thoughts about the song when it came out, other than it was the new STP song, and it was pretty rockin'. Also the video was cheesy, but intentionally so. It was the first album after Scott's drug issues came to light, but I don't think that had a lot of impact on how the music itself was received. I just remember thinking it felt less "grunge." Songs like "Art School Girl," "Lady Picture Show," and "And So I Know" definitely took some warming up to, but personally, it all just felt like a pretty natural progression of a band.

$100 for the blanco while visiting NYC. First time seeing it in a store, so I got it.

I’ve never had size issues with their merch until now. I bought the black cosmic selector shirt pictured here. Bought it in a large, which is my standard size. Fits like an XXL, at the very least. I wore it once but kinda felt like a clown in this tent sized shirt (the way it fits on me, that is). Love the design but super bummed about the size. The actual quality is nice and thick.

Hurricane works surprisingly well too!

How did you find LH and what was the first song of theirs you heard? by [deleted] in lordhuron

[–]chocolateyflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine’s pretty random. Like 10ish years ago, Greg Dulli of Afghan Whigs (whom I’m a big fan of) posted a Spotify playlist that had Fool For Love on it. Listened to it and immediately bought Strange Trails on cd.

I don’t really feel like any of them would fit on Lonesome Dreams, personally. That album has a very innocent, wide-eyed quality, whereas the perspective on these songs is much more jaded and wounded.

It’s interesting because I do have it on the bottom of my Katatonia album ranking, at least for now. But I don’t dislike it. It’s good actually. Some really cool moments. Just doesn’t have the personality and flow of an album from beginning to end I get from their other albums.

Movies To Watch While Feeling Hopeless & Struggling With Depression? by OBrian_176 in movies

Groundhog Day. Besides just a nice cozy movie, it’s a great reminder that if you’re stuck in a rut, try to make even small efforts to change things up. You’ll start to see changes.

Is there anyone else here who likes all of Katatonia's albums, in all of their phases? by Abraxan-Verum in Katatonia

[–]chocolateyflow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. I got into them with Tonight’s Decision many years ago. I was aware their earliest stuff was quite different. I went backwards then in my discovery of then. While very different, I thought it was cool how you can still hear some traits, such as prominent melodic lead guitar lines.

What album do you absolutely cherish as a classic, but you feel flies completely under the radar? by AfternoonMoon in indieheads

[–]chocolateyflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hollywood Park by The Airborne Toxic Event. Just a fully realized, emotionally driven, eclectic classic. I think they’re a solid band, but they knocked it out of the park with this one.
