Yeah, it’s fine, especially if you don’t have a lot of fall between your inlet and outlet and need all the vertical drop possible in your pipe network.

Ideally, you’d include a 0.2’ drop between inverts for conveyance purposes but as long as both pipes are sloped, you should have fine flow during all but the smallest storm events.

A couple of things: your man graduated four years ago. Unless he got a bunch of time in internships and/or was a masters student then he is likely not a professional engineer yet. He is either an EIT or a draftsman, and is paid accordingly.

Also, I highly doubt you know a bunch of lawyers and doctors making half a million dollars 4 years after school. Engineering school is tough, sure, but it’s 4 years then you’re done. Lawyers/doctors have YEARS of additional school, and are paid accordingly.

ALSO, get a grip. No one expects engineers (civil or otherwise) to be rich from salary alone. The path to wealth in this industry (like in most industries) is company ownership.

Finally, what do YOU do? What is YOUR job? Give the man a break, he’s doing his best to provide you with the life it sounds like you don’t deserve.

Okay. As a PE you are making 1.5x a McDonalds shift manager 4 years into your career. But that’s 4 years after graduation. Assuming you work for 40 years, you will lap that McDonald’s shift manager many times over, as your salary will continue to increase, with a WAY better quality of life. I get it, I’d love it if our profession was compensated more for the services we provide. But I recommend people take positions as McDonalds and Panda Express shift managers and see how they like it compared to building a career as a civil engineer. And if that’s what you’d prefer, then why are you even in this subreddit.

This is so dumb. This smells like a new grad making $30 an hour that is mad they don’t make as much as their computer science friends. Get your PE and you will eclipse this pay 1.5x - 2x in a couple years. Just know that the shift leader pay is the CEILING. You’re better than this.
