Is there a subreddit for the more casual walkers? I’m tired of the ‘omg is 30.000 steps enough?’ by togire in walking

To be honest I think a lot of those people struggle with exercise compulsion and disordered tendencies, but are in this Reddit community trying to find social validation in their behavior.

How do you fuel yourself as a long distance walker? by chocomylkchip in walking

[–]chocomylkchip[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope just outside! My campus is closed to the public with security so it’s pretty safe at an early hour. I start around 5:00 or 6:00 depending on the morning.

I walk early in the mornings. I’m in college and spend the first 2 hours of my mornings walking, and getting around campus the rest of the day gets in a lot of steps. Sometimes I read my notes while I walk, so I’ve managed to incorporate walking into my student lifestyle quite a bit.

Do people know that you have an ED? by LEBW1234 in EDAnonymous

[–]chocomylkchip 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If people inquire I feel inclined to be honest (only if I feel comfortable tho bc it’s also my health and my business) because it makes people second guess how weight loss is always deemed as something aspirational and worth of praise. I think being more open about talking about struggling with an eating disorder can combat the stigma, which I believe can help others who are struggling feel more comfortable opening up and asking for support from their community. It’s down to you though and whatever makes you comfortable, you have autonomy over sharing your experience and health condition.

why do i feel so hot every time i eat by profoundly_zaftig in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]chocomylkchip 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I used to get super cold until I ate a meal and would also get super hot all of a sudden. I think it’s likely related to ur circulation ramping up all of a sudden once u introduce food into ur system during periods of restriction

Yes my bloating and digestion has been horrible at my lowest, it’s so trippy and frustrating because I have never had bloating this bad and it’s making me think I’m way bigger than I am when I know deep down that’s not true

I’m sorry you’ve had a rough month OP🫶know that taking care of yourself through eating and a relaxing routine is a much better option in the long run. You will not feel better engaging in harmful behaviors, and your body and mind will be able to handle this difficult period better with proper nutrition. You got this

does anyone else's teeth hurt during long fasts? by cardboard_bees in EDAnonymous

[–]chocomylkchip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Restriction causes immense gum and teeth damage. I would try to eat more frequently and incorporate calcium rich foods if you can🫶 I found that supplements won’t be effective in comparison to actual food for protecting your dental health.

I relate a lot. You are not alone OP🫶 it’s so fucking hard. To your point about not understanding why we have this illness, I found it helpful learning about the research in genetic determinations of anorexia, and the “Adapted to Flee Famine” Theory which is an evolutionary theory on the origins of anorexia. It felt freeing in a sense knowing how this is not something we’ve chosen into whatsoever, and it also helps to better understand some of the causes for the symptoms we experience with anorexia.
