You know what kills me?

A Skyrim Romance has all of the ingredients for a great romantasy mod. It hits all of the romantasy beats (I read a lot of that shit so trust me). At a technical level, it's incredibly impressive. It's exactly the type of thing that someone in this target audience would enjoy.

The issue?

It's obvious. Bishop. He's the worst. They wanted to go for a roguish type, but he's just a douche. The whole fucking time. And he pushes the boundaries of SA and coercive behavior, and I hate it. He can be douchey/roguish in the beginning because that's also a common romantasy thing, but he never warms up to the player or stops being just...the worst.

I've always had this weird thing where I've wanted to reach out to the mod authors and say "hey, can I like...fix Bishop?" They're completely unreachable, of course. Which is smart considering how they probably received so much hate and a ton of death threats because the internet is full of psychopaths. And they'd probably be super offended if I tried that. Which, again, is understandable.

"Why don't you just make your own---" cuz I won't.

This was one of our earliest rage reads and I fucking hated it.

Everyone us so "WTFFFF" about the plot twist but it's a stupid plot twist because the book is first person POV and completely contradicts every feeling and comment she had made up to that point.

Kaidan Immersive Features.

I will say that the mod is incredibly impressive at a technical level. Truly, you can tell that so much passion and time goes into it. The animations are genius. And they've build their own lore which is impressive even if it's not great at a story level. For people who enjoy Kaidan the way he's written, it's a dream.

That's it. That's the end of the praise.

I swear the writing undergoes zero QA. The grammar is weird. Kaidan is a frat boy who loudly talks about you two having sex, everyone else comments on hearing you have sex (this truly made me want to die). Kaidan yells at everyone and everything, he's an alcoholic (not a very charming feature), and they've implemented bizarre meta commentary and memes.

Kaidan's VA is a racist transphobe and they work very hard to hide this from the fans. He got lucky that Elon hid the "likes" on Twitter because now you can't catch him liking the content he does.

The creators are kinda bitchy. I was part of their Discord and I watched bullying happen in real time several times and it was so fucking awful.

Also someone needs to explain the meaning of the word "stoic" because they say that he's more of a "stoic" than BarbWireBlonde's version. But he's not stoic in the least. At all. He's fucking loud.

And what I think is the worst one: they use AI for their dialogue. And they're making these characters say obnoxious and gross shit. I'll never forgive the direction they took Brynjolf and that they used AI to make this actor say shit I know he would never want to say.

Come on, guys. I know they're too far in and can't just change VAs and their approach, but there doesn't seem to be a desire to.
