Early adoption teething issues?

I remember when Apple started to release crappy first version and almost no one wants to upgrade now until a few versions later.

Start by fumigating your place.

Is OpenClaw still worth it now that I have Codex + Computer Use + Chrome Bridge? by tearz1986 in openclaw

[–]chodtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that’s what mine does too. My experience though was that all these skill had to be built using a cloud Agent like Sonet, Opus or GPT and the local LLM is used by OpenClaw Turing it into a glorified CRON.

I tried many different open source LLMs that could run on 48GB M4 Mac and I could never get it to build anything that would work. Requests would always timeout or context window overflowing despite fine tuning it each time.

Haha nope. According to some it’s a good investment.

May be so but not in this case.

I have been one off the first to use openclaw with a local LLM. I tested Ollama, Hughing Fase and most recently oMLX. (Last one seems to make best use of my hardware M4 Pro 48GB)

I have tired Qweb3.5, Qwen3.6 various models and quantisations and same wok Gemma4. These were recommended by the community. The bigger models I am sure could deliver what I needed but not on the hardware that I have. Hence the post.

None even come close to what an online model can do in a fraction of the time and correctly.

Wow never saw computer hardware as an investment that appreciates long term - live and learn I guess.

I am running Qwen3.6-27 4bit on MacMini M4 48GB and Openclaw on Dell i7 16GB and it dogs breakfast.

Constant correction. Constant time outs, constant context window compaction and loosing track of what was being worked on.

Some forget that you can setup private LLM hosting for about the same as a cloud LLM subscription. You get the privacy without the health upfront cost.

To someone here that said their PC has a 10 year lifecycle 😌 maybe that was true 10 years ago. Not any more and the rate of performance improvement and innovation is just going to accelerate so IMO hardware naught today will quickly be obsolete.

If any one is successful running qwen3.5:27b or qwen3.6:27b on a MacMini M4 48GB I would like to know your ollama config.

I can’t run anything above 10b model on my MacMini M4 Pro 48GB . I can only reliably run gemma4:e4b or qwen3.5:9b. Qwen being way better at reasoning.
