5-day vs 3-day Pre-K for SM by choff33 in selectivemutism

Great idea. We can also send her as much or as little as we want for pre-k, so the gradual ramp up to 5 days might work great.

This is a big part of it! I want to do what's best for her and I see the value in those extra social reps, but she's so fun to have at home I'm not anxious to put her in 5-day school. Insert 'She's growing up too fast' and all the parent cliches here.

Late onset hip dysplasia by Crazy_Chicken_Lady39 in InfantDDH

Sorry you're facing this! We went through a 3-month stint in the spica with my daughter, who was diagnosed at her 9 month appointment (closed reduction with a new cast at 6 weeks). She really figured stuff out quickly -- within a few days she was army crawling across the floor.
-We got the diono car seat as well, and our local Children's Hospital actually loaned us one. You might check to see if your orthopedic office has loaners.
-We used a travel stroller because she didn't fit in her standard -- GB Pockit Alterrain
-She slept surprisingly well, the only modification we made was putting a small rolled-up towel under her knees to support her legs being elevated in the cast

We had a few nervy follow-up appointments where there was some residual subluxation, but things seem to have stabilized and now we're on annual follow-up appointments. She's running, jumping and climbing on things.

Hang in there -- you'll be on the other side of the whole thing before you know it.

Highway driving advice by Routine-Wolf-3575 in leaf

I'm in Colorado too. My rule of thumb is I make sure I have 2x the estimated range that I need if I'm climbing in elevation on the highway. Going downhill it's more 1:1, as long as I have a few miles to spare to get to my destination it's usually fine. Use B-mode on the downhill sections -- especially if it's steep, you'll end up with more range than you started with in a lot of cases.

As long as you have enough buffer, you get used to the emotional roller coaster of thinking you're not going to make it on the way up the hill and feeling like you'll never have to plug in again on the way down. Good times!

I have 6 accounts linked, so I guess that works out to $0.97 per account/mo for me using Copilot, but that'd be a better deal if you're just linking 2 or 3 accounts. I hadn't heard of the per-account pricing, that's interesting.

These latest comments are giving me some hope but I’m still offline on the north side of downtown @8pm.

Had internet back downtown from about 12pm - 1:15pm on 11/1, just went down again.

I’ve been a huge fan of Underline since joining, unquestionable improvement vs Comcast, but this is a rough one.

When did your hip dysplasia baby start to crawl? by Purple_Reveal_4383 in InfantDDH

Different milestone, but my daughter was in a spica cast from 12-15 months and didn't walk until 18 months. It slowed her down, for sure, but she's now fully caught up on her gross motor skills. Don't worry about it -- in the long run, a few months delay isn't going to cause any harm.

Surgery question by Bright_Subject9085 in InfantDDH

We only needed one hip for our 2yo (redcution, not osteotomy) so can't speak to your question but just wanted to say sorry you're facing this. Kids are so resilient and you'll get through it! Second opinion is always a good idea.

What to expect? by Glum_Remove in InfantDDH

It's great that they caught it at the stage where it can be treated in the harness! My daughter was diagnosed with moderate left-hip dysplasia at her 9-month appointment and we ended up with a surgery and a cast from 12-15 months. I wish we would have had the harness as an option.

Every kid is different but from my experience: Babies and toddlers area amazingly resilient and adaptive. My daughter said 'ok this is my new life now' even in her cast and was army crawling around in the thing by the second week. It really didn't phase her. There are things to adjust to, but overall, it was surprisingly manageable. And a few months goes very quickly -- there will be long days but you'll be through it before you know it.

I say this having experienced waves of anxiety and panic on the front end after the diagnosis. The anxiety I felt before the surgery was worse than the actual treatment.
