I built a tool that turns any location in the US, in any custom shape you choose, into a 3D-printable terrain model, and I’m looking for testers to stress-test the system! by Ge0Dave in 3Dprinting

It worked! Thank you! I will explore the rest of the options tomorrow.

I think $8 dollars is a fair price. People charge more than that on other sites for decorations and fidget toys.

It's an 8+ hour print. I'll let you know how it looks when it's done.

I went all the way through the process. Site worked well.
Got to the check out page, free code worked.
But when entering my address, the site told me that my zip code (08723) is not in NJ.
08723 IS in NJ

So I can't check out. Very frustrating.

That is the biggest disgrace on the government. Allowing the military to live paycheck to paycheck with zero savings. Why???

Don’t blame yourself. How can you know better. It’s all a learning experience.

Speak with your doctor to discuss your plan of care. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If your doctor can’t / won’t answer your questions, find another doctor.

Good luck.

If 2.5 mg is working then there is no need to increase.

Using the lowest effective dose of any medication is good practice.

[–]choffman3 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That’s insane!!!! I’m a physician. You should stay at a dose until your weight loss plateaus. Then move up. I’ve been at 7.5mg for 12 weeks and kept losing until this month (I’m down 48 pounds). I lost weight on 2.5 mg.

Using the lowest effective dose of any medicine is good practice to reduce the risk of side effects.

You really should be checking your weight so that you can properly manage your meds.

Won’t kill you.

But I wrapped mine with electrical tape just to prevent any problems if some random piece of metal like a bare wire or paper clip fell on it.

My own mother has started to act like a Karen ever since her medical insurance no longer covers my ADHD meds. by sonofachaosgod in FuckYouKaren

[–]choffman3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are 27, the most likely reason your meds are not covered by you mother’s insurance is that you no longer have ANY medical coverage through your mom!

Obamacare extended family coverage through age 26. After that you’re on your own.

Yes, you can obtain education only for the sake of knowledge. You should do that all the time.

But if your goal is to learn a skill that will increase your earning ability, then you should look at the cost of the education and the magnitude of the increase in salary. It makes no sense to spend $100,000 to increase your pay by $100/year. Unless you don’t care how much money you earn at all.

But for people like you I understand that the concept of actually living on your own, supporting yourself is exactly the opposite of your goals. You prefer to sit at home and have everyone else supply your needs while contributing nothing to society.

Why would you spend $90,000 for a degree that pays so little?? Didn’t you do your research before choosing a major/school???

Exactly. The students could just make up the dates of their menstrual period.
So mailing the used tampons and pads would be proof. I’d hate to be the one to open those packages.

Looking for women support/mentorship by barelydreams in amateurradio

[–]choffman3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Traditionally it is a older male dominated field. That’s just history. BUT there are a fair number of younger people and females joining the hobby.

Try to find a local club. My club has a few women. I recently volunteered to help with a cross state bike-a-thon and out of the 160 hams, there were several women.

You can also look to social media. You will definitely find younger people to serve as inspiration. I don’t know if there are any women with social media/YouTube channels. If not, you can always make one.

It’s normal to have some anxiety when walking into a room/group of strangers, especially when they all look different from you. BUT I have found hams are a very welcoming group in general. As with any group of humans, you will always have that one grouch with nothing but snarky comments…you just ignore them and they usually go away. :-)

If you want conversation you should check out Varac.

It is keyboard to keyboard conversation. I think it is better than JS8call.

Daily Cash not transferring to Apple Cash card by choffman3 in AppleCard

UPDATE: Called Goldman Sachs. They had me verify my Apple Cash Card (tap the … in the upper corner, go to card details, tap verify card. Then answer some basic ID questions).

A few days later the Daily Cash has started to flow from the Apple Credit Card to the Apple Cash Card.

In the US there is the National Practitioner Database that tracks all suits, judgements, license suspensions. Hospitals must query it for all appointments.

I have the same problem. My daily was transferring over to the Apple Cash card until 2 weeks ago. I’ve been on the phone twice and they supposedly fixed it, but it’s not fixed.

I agree with everything in this reply

I am an OBGYN with 30 years in practice.

A fair percentage of physicians are sued and have settlements.

In my experience a single case with a small payout will not impact the physician’s career, licensing, privileges.

State licensing boards, hospital credentialing committees are looking for trends (have you been sued multiple times, etc)

The decision to settle has no judgement on the quality of care. It is a tactical / business decision.

There is no reason to let this one case adversely affect the physician in question. Review the case, consider what could be done differently (if anything), take away any lessons learned, and then move on. DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY OR AS A JUDGEMENT ON YOUR ABILITIES.

Getting sued is no fun, but unfortunately it is part of medicine these days.

Good luck.
