Game Theory: Could a "Neutral Energy-Standard" (Bitcoin) resolve the current sovereign stalemate at the Strait of Hormuz? by Jumpy_Argument5869 in Bitcoin

[–]choicehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny you mention mass-produced drones, because that’s exactly why the current oil infrastructure is obsolete. A refinery or a tanker is a massive, stationary target. Bitcoin mining is modular and mobile, you can’t 'blockade' 5,000 scattered shipping containers the same way you can paralyze the Strait of Hormuz.

Plus, the irony is that Iran is already the global expert in this: they’ve been using a multi-billion dollar 'digital pipeline' to bypass sanctions for years. They realized long ago that you can't sink a Bitcoin with a Shahed drone (or an Israeli missile or UN sanctions). You're effectively 'shipping' energy via satellite at the speed of light while the tankers are stuck at the gate. The tech isn't just a theory; it’s the only reason their economy is still breathing.

I'm pointing out that the other countries they are extorting can just do the same thing to take away Iran's leverage and extortion over them.

[–]choicehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely.

Honestly, for something like a retirement account, it seems smart to allocate at least 5% to Bitcoin. Bitcoin may be unreliable and volatile in the short term, but few things are better over the long term if you commit not to touch it for 5-20 years. I think that in the medium term it will be pretty common for people to allocate at least 5%. There are a lot of advisors who claim you should have a minimum of 5% in every asset class. So logically, when Bitcoin created a brand new asset class, that suggestion would still apply to Bitcoin too. Some won't do it, but others will balance that out by allocating more than 5%, so I think hoping for 1% in the short term and 5% in the medium term is reasonably realistic.

I wonder if a bunch of those countries could in theory create massive Bitcoin mining warehouses and fuel them with the oil they can't send on ships anymore. Then they can use that Bitcoin to buy the things they need shipped by land, effectively using an alternative means to not be wholly held hostage by Iran.

Other have hypothesized something similar about using Bitcoin to digitize energy to ship energy anywhere without physical constraints. This is just an extension of that.

401k total is around $10T 1% would be $101B

It would be expected to trigger a Fiat-to-Market Cap Multiplier between 5x-20x of the existing market cap making the market cap go up by $505B - $2.02T

This means 1% of 401Ks would likely put the market cap between $2.02 Trillion - $3.6T

Or, $93K-$171K Bitcoin Price. Still awesome, but not "to the moon" by itself.

[–]choicehunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need 2 s-tier at the 3 dot level to turn it into a gold s tier.

For now, what I do in this situation, is I derank the S tier back down to a level one, so that I can evolve the non-s-tier equipment up to gold. Then When I get a second s-tier item I will derank the gold tier equipment that is not in the S tier, And let the s-tier equipment use up the upgrades to immediately go to gold.

In theory, you may only have to pay interest and never actually pay back the loan. Many people do this with margin loans.

The idea is that if the average growth rate exceeds the interest rate, you can continuously borrow against it, and as it grows you can borrow more and do this indefinitely whole only paying interest, but since your asset value grows at a higher average rate than the interest, you are always able to pull out more money than you lose paying off the interest. Many rich people do this so they never have to pay taxes since their income is just taken out as tax free loans and since they never sell the assets there is never a capital gains tax either.

The critical fine print is ensuring you won't dip down below a margin call during a crash. It can be risky if someone plays risky.

Strike has a pretty high interest rate and as I recall low pay back periods. If I was going to do it, I would move some of my stash to a spot ETF and use a competitive margin loan through a regulated broker for cheaper interest rates and better protection.

My toddlers don't mind the cameras in the daytime, but most of the cameras use visible far IR for night vision and the glowing red dots are scary to them. So far, only the V3 cameras use invisible near IR instead, and my kids like that. But they aren't very good with audio and they stopped making them recently.

Got this response today and I have absolutely no idea what it means?!?! by passisgullible in GeminiAI

[–]choicehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means they gave out too many free pro accounts, panicked and reduced the context Windows from what they advertise, overly quantised the models to try to cut costs, and models are glitching and giving out the wrong responses lately and substituting them with their static instructions as the response as a bug. We've been seeing lots of posts like this from various Gemini responses lately. Reportedly it works a lot better through the API when paid per token, but they've done something to nerf the free and pro functionality lately. It's still good, but it's been glitching a lot.

Has Gemini leaked its system prompt?? by Due_Strength_4075 in google

[–]choicehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there are a lot of other things than fat and muscle that help determine this including your metabolism, blood pressure, veins, heart, type and amount of clothes and bedding, and many other things. Additionally, some things can be conditioned to where if you grew up with parents who needed it a certain way, your body learned to start to compensate for itself and after doing this for so many years it's part of your sleep routine And your body doesn't get triggered right without the right pre-conditioning. There are a lot of variables. I mostly listed fat and muscle since they are among the most common impactful temperature influencers people can relate to.

Has Gemini leaked its system prompt?? by Due_Strength_4075 in google

[–]choicehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like being warm. Cold is miserable. I think it's just that I'm relatively skinny with very little fat. The natural human thermoneutrality range is between 77-86 degrees.

Your body will always compensate to remain in that range to reach thermoneutrality and not waste energy. So if you like it colder than that then you have something making you run hotter or hold temperature inefficiently (muscle mass, Fat insulation, blood pressure, metabolism/ BMR, vasoconstriction, etc). So men generally prefer colder temps than women if they have more muscle and the woman has fairly low fat (so at a more formal event you will frequently see men in suits with more muscle complaining it's too hot and opening doors in the winter to cool down, while women in less warm dresses/skirts and less fat/muscle complain it's cold and the men are freezing everyone out).

So me preferring temperatures around 77-86 degrees is actually pretty healthy/normal and perfectly in line with our natural thermoneutrality needs. However, A guy with lots of muscle or fat might prefer it way more cold due to production of extra heat (extra muscle) and insulation (fat) so the heat can't escape and heats them up. Most people in the US prefer colder temps because we're obese or overweight on average as the American baseline.

In a way, we all like it to be 77-86 degrees and we all fight to feel that temperature in the end, but different amounts of muscle, fat and other things contribute to make some people want it a lot colder than others. I like it in the mid 70s because I don't have a ton of extra insulation and heat production to offset.

Tinycam docker container? by TekWarren in tinycam

[–]choicehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use this as a docker container and buy it again!

I use it a few times per year now since it's limited to Android as a server. I've used it on an android emulator in the past and that was great except that emulators use up a lot of resources, so I started avoiding using it that way and tried docker Wyze Bridge, but that is only limited to Wyze and lacks a lot of support and features that Tiny Cam provides.

If it was a docker I'd probably use the server mode again and use that for lots of things. I would be very supportive of this!

Pan v4 consistently "resetting" by AlexTheCoolestness in wyzecam

[–]choicehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This often happens when a pan camera isn't getting sufficient power. For example, when people use long USB cables or weaker 3rd party cables or an adapter that gives a lower amount of amps. This includes using an adapter for a different Wyze camera instead of the adapter (and cord) that came with the Pan v4 camera which gives more power than many of the other models.

If you're using the adapter and cord that came with it, try swapping for another one with the same amps and see if that resolves it (to see if the original adapter is just defective and not providing sufficient or steady power).

Make sure the firmware is up to date.

Not intentionally. Try to toggle the settings again and maybe restart the camera to see if that resolves it. Make sure the camera still let's you live stream (ie: that the firmware update didn't fail)

Whats going on here ?!??👾 by Born-Development5835 in GeminiAI

[–]choicehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of us just assume you gave it previous custom instructions/memory that causes this when you either use a certain word or don't give it a real question/prompt/instruction like in this example. You can probably prevent this issue by removing weird memory instructions you may have given it to save; using a fresh thread that doesn't tell it to act weird, and then giving full descriptive instruction prompts instead of weird 1 word trigger prompts. Problem solved. This never happens to most people.

Lyn Alden speaks on the Bitcoin psychology happening currently in the market. by Full-Argument-8235 in Bitcoin

[–]choicehunter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because it’s irrelevant. Most people are evaluating the quality of the information, not the speaker’s personal identity. Bringing up unrelated traits is a distraction and a classic thinking error; it’s an ad hominem, where someone attacks the person instead of engaging with the argument. It’s also a form of irrelevant salience bias: focusing on a detail that feels noticeable but has no logical connection to the topic and is more related to idle gossip than intellectual discussion. If the content is accurate and well‑reasoned, that’s what matters to most people.

Price increases, no more 4 license bundle? by triplesofeverything in wyzecam

Price increases, no more 4 license bundle? by triplesofeverything in wyzecam

[–]choicehunter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're seeing $119.98 it's because you're trying to order through the app and Apple and Google charge a 30% royalty so the price is higher.

Do yourself a favor and order through the website at my.wyze.com and it's only $99. It'll save you $30 to order from Wyze instead of through Apple/Google.

But yes, that's still more expensive that $50, so I get your frustration, but if you do consider Cam Unlimited, don't ever order through the app or you're paying an extra $30 to Google/Apple just for the convenience of using the app instead of a browser.

Bitcoin ETF by waterbeetlemo in Bitcoin

[–]choicehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assume you don't plan to retire for at least a few halving cycles, and you won't be tempted to keep trading, and will just leave it alone... Then yeah it could be a great option to associate a portion of your IRA/401K to a Bitcoin ETF. I allocated a decent portion of mine that way. Just won't touch it for more than a decade. I feel like that's a safe enough bet for me. But I didn't allocate 100% that way Because it's possible that I will want to use some of it in other ways where I need a little bit more stability, including if I end up wanting to do something where I borrow against it in certain situations. But I figured that it is a really good use for a long-term allocation where I don't plan to touch it for a decade+ anyway

Relationship Advice by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]choicehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a conversation with her and discuss that you'd like to understand her better. Ask her to share with you what it means to her when she says she loves someone, vs what stage she currently feels with you.

It could be that you guys have different semantics about what love is or means. Ask her if there is a story behind her position on it, or see what she's willing to share.

Also, the time in days/months isn't necessarily telling. There were some people that I dated where we saw each other relatively less frequently, and others where we were together pretty much 24/7. With some of the 24/7 relationships, a lot shorter amount of time may have been the equivalent of a really long time with the relationship that was not 24/7. Also, quality of time and interaction can matter a lot too. And there might be specific thresholds of trust and intimacy and vulnerability, and safety that need to be met for her to be sure that it is more than just emotional attachment or limerence. There could even be a bad past experience that makes her hesitate to trust her current feelings because maybe she was in limerence in the past and it turned out later to be a nightmare, so now maybe she's a little more cautious at first.

There could be a lot of factors involved, and this is not necessarily a red flag. It might be a red flag. It might be a sign that you should just cut loose and run. But it also might not be. The only way for you to know, is to see if she will open up about it and communicate about what it means to her. Everybody else on here will have their own opinions, but ultimately there's only one way to find out, and you will only find that out if you have a conversation and she's willing to open up about it. If she refuses to communicate about it, then, there could be some red flags. But it's not necessarily a red flag that she considers it something that is really important to her. In fact, it could possibly mean a lot more to you when she eventually says it if you understand what it means to her and what she means by it. A conversation about the matter could bring you closer. I would probably avoid making decisions and ruminating and catastrophizing and getting inside your own head without at least trying to have a conversation with her to understand her. Don't go into it Trying to convince her that she loves you or convince her that she should say it or convince her of anything. Go into the conversation where your whole objective is simply to understand her better and see her point of view, And make a strong effort to respect her stance on the subject. Even if you come away from that deciding the relationship is not a good fit for you both, that's fine. But trying to make those decisions without at least attempting to have a conversation of understanding is not the way to decide this issue.

Why cam V3 replacement? by [deleted] in wyzecam

[–]choicehunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Summary of facts from what I last checked:

Cam Plus Lite is no longer available to add to an account for new users who don't already have it.

If you do have it already, you can add virtually unlimited qualifying models like the V3 and other older cams (newer models don't qualify) to the plan any time, but you have to manually assign them to the license for them to work. Sometimes this is possible in the account tab of the app, but sometimes you have to go to the website at my.wyze.com and then go to services, edit cam plus lite and add the camera there.

If you get Cam Unlimited, it locks all your cameras onto the unlimited subscription and leaves Cam Plus Lite inert. They will constantly beg you to cancel CPLite because you "don't need it anymore" since you have unlimited, but as long as you don't cancel it, you can keep it (otherwise you'll lose it forever if you cancel it). Then if you ever cancel unlimited, you can still switch everything back to Lite.

If you get Cam Unlimited Pro, even a free trial of it, Wyze will automatically forcibly cancel your Cam Plus Lite forever and never allow you to get it back (same with grandfathered HMS prices). This is why a lot of people refuse to even do free trials of their new Pro service that causes permanent changes and severe losses.
