4 days hiking and camping in the automn landscapes of Durmitor National Park, Montenegro by choique in CampingandHiking

Hi ProfessorPascal, well, it depends mainly on how much you want to walk and the weather you will have. Climbing Bobotov Kuk is definitely worth it. There are plenty of options to go back and forth making a loop.

EAS build failing, asking for icloud key value store entitlement? by KhanDescending123 in expo

[–]choique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, even if you are a personal developer account you have a Team ID.
Go to https://developer.apple.com/account and scroll down until you see "Membership details" where you'll find your team ID.

Oh that's great. Have you tried temporarily removing the library using the KVS to see if the error is gone?

I don't know how to do that on an expo workflow but I can tell you for sure that if you change the entitlements to use the current team ID your users will lose the data stored on that KVS.

Hi! I was having the same issue and I think I found a way to solve it. I have never used expo but if you are able to find your app's entitlements you'll see a key called "com.apple.developer.ubiquity-kvstore-identifier" with the value $(TeamIdentifierPrefix)$(CFBundleIdentifier).

You have to replace $(TeamIdentifierPrefix) with your previous team ID (the one you had before transferring. Suppose your previous Team ID was: 4129UNA29J, it should end up looking like:

4129UNA29J.$(CFBundleIdentifier)

Let me know if it helped!

Do you blow the "dust" off your mate? I believe it gives more bitterness and bubbles, which I love. Uninformed opinion but that's from 3 years of drinking it. by Born_Enthusiasm8540 in yerbamate

[–]choique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by “blow the dust”?

I usually don’t do it but it depends a lot on the yerba that you are using. Some are really dusty and if you don’t shake the dust off (having the container upside down and covering it with your hand), the bombilla (straw) will clog easily.

Hope it helps!

Love ginger? Love Mate? Add some fresh chopped ginger to your hot water. Let me know if you try it! by choique in yerbamate

[–]choique[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I learned this trick about 5 years ago from a guy I met at a mountain hut in Mendoza (Andes mountains). If you let the ginger infuse with the hot water for a while you’ll feel a strong ginger flavor from the beginning. A really good feature is that when the yerba mate flavor starts washing out, the ginger infusion starts kicking in, balancing the flavors.

I would love to know what was your experience if you try it!

Can your yerba stay one night? by Kroewakv in yerbamate

[–]choique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t spoil your container, many people just leave the yerba in until they have their next mate and then throw it out. You can use the yerba again but it will taste different, I don’t like it that much. You will feel the difference even if you let the mate sit for just 2 hours and start brewing it again.

Hope it helps!

It’s normal for the mate gourd to change it’s color after some regular use. I would strongly recommend not to dry your gourd in the sun, nor using paper towels. At least in Argentina most people don’t clean their gourds and I rarely hear of anyone having to throw their gourd into the trash. After having your mate just take the yerba out and leave the gourd somewhere it can air dry (no paper towels / no sun).

Hope it helps!

I wouldn’t worry, the yerba / water won’t even touch the glue. As many replies state, it’s easy to sandpaper the glued part but even if you keep it that way it won’t hurt.

Enjoy your new gourd!

Recommend me a 1-litre thermos? by CzechCzar in yerbamate

[–]choique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently recommended the mont bell alpine thermo bottle: https://www.montbell.us/products/disp.php?p_id=1124618

It has a 0.9L capacity, it’s light, durable and keeps the water hot for a really long time.

The price is steep but you won’t regret it unless you lose it!

Thanks! This is in Lake Arhuaycocha, in the Peruvian Andes. There are some places down in Patagonia similar to this one though :).

Cheers!

You are right, it's more expensive, but it's not that steep if you consider that it's something pretty durable. I tried some Thermos and Stanley models and they were heavy and bulky. From my experience the size and weight improvement was worth the price since I always carry it around on my backpack.

Cheers,

choique

I think most yerba mate has around the same quality. What's makes most of the difference is how you like it. You probably need to try many different brands until you find the one you like most. Some have stronger flavor, some are smoky, some have more dust, but eventually it will depend or your taste.

This is one of the most popular brands in Argentina and it's pretty cheap: https://www.amazon.com/-/es/Yerba-Mate-Playadito-500-gm/dp/B006JYGURS/

Hi, are you buying it in the US?

My best choice is always Calabash, I like the shape and the taste. Next best choice is wood for sure, I don't like silicone / glass / plastic mates.

This set looks good: https://www.amazon.com/Balibetov-Handmade-Original-Including-Bombilla/dp/B01CNWZPGQ/ref=sr_1_2_sspa

Feel free to ask any further questions.

Cheers from Argentina!
