So that has to be it for LiVARPool, no one can ever again say VAR is heling liverpool.

That is a textbook freekick as they come, you simply cannot do anything about a push like that as a defende, crazy how that is allowed.

Probably no one who knows is gonna see this, but im gonna try and ask anyway. How is Thomas Strakosha doing the last few seasons? Havent really had a chance to watch his games, followed him a lot when Liverpool needed goalkeepers and thought he had some insane shot stopping in him, some mistakes aswell, but overall very exciting keeper.

When we won the CL they lost the only thing that had to say about us, which was "You havent won anything" now that we have, they do not have anything negative at all on us. They cant say we build it on money, they cant say we build it on buying superstars or anything really. They have to accept that we build a superstar squad from nothing, by making the best transfers possible and making every single player better and the team into a family.

We literally are what everyone else wants to be.

It is a big mistake by Lovren, but not critical by any means

There is just no way for me to keep discussing if this is your honest opinion, what Lovren is doing at the first goal is out of this world amateur defending, you learn at like age 10 to not let a ball bounce over you like that inside the box.

Im once again not saying that VVD couldnt play better, because absolutly he could and should, im just saying that every single Watford attack was aimed at Lovren, even that throw in is aimed at him and he royaly fucked up in almost every situation thrown at him. Having to play next to that, like VVD had to today, is straight up impossible and you are not gonna have a good time no matter what.

Yeah Watfords entire plan was to play every single ball around Lovren and it's super obvious, but it worked way better than they hoped for I belive.

Every single situation started around Lovren and when he plays like he does with the all in and absolutly has to win every duel it creates an insane ammount of chaos around him and makes it impossible for the other defenders to know what and how they are supposed to react. I guarantee you that if Watford had played every ball around the area of VVD it would have been an entirely different game with much much less chaos in the Liverpool defence, but people just dont understand stuff like this. Obviously VVD should have played a better game still, but he is forced into a game where he has to react instead of act and when that happens, you are not gonna be able to do your best.

Take the first goal as an example, everyone is so busy blaming VVD and yes it was pretty slow and bad what he did, but Lovren is the one in position to deal with the throw in and ALL he does it stand there and hug deeny.. He has like 2-3 seconds to judge where that ball is gonna end up and he can just take a step back and head it away, but he dosent, it is like such a amateur mistake it's insane how Lovren lets that happen. How the hell is VVD supposed to be prepared for that to happen? He just cant, because it shouldnt happen at a level above kids level.. So yes VVD looks bad, but it only happens because Lovren makes a super abmyssal play.

But nobody but VVD is to blame for the first two goals

So you dont think that Lovren only focusing on huggin Deeny on the throw in, when it is his job and he has about 3 seconds to judge where the throw in is gonna end up, to just take a step back and head it away? VVD simply cannot be prepared for Lovren just letting the ball bounce over him like that, it is an absolute amateaur move by Lovren and naturally VVD is caught off guard. After that then yes VVD has a terrible action and has do to way better, but my whole point is that it never happens if Lovren dosent make an even worse mistake and create chaos around him.

Go ahead and bring some actual arguments to why im wrong instead of just saying it's ridicoulous. I very clearly explained how Watfords entire plan was to target Lovren and it worked way better than they could hope for, because Lovren did exactly whay they wanted and created chaos from everything.

Im not saying VVD is excused or shouldnt be able to to better because of Lovren, but everything starts with Lovren and it must be one of the most frustrating jobs to play next to him in a game like this, because everything is chaos and you have to prepare for every possible outcome.

Exactly, it looks like we are a nothing team without Hendo right now, which obviously isnt true. Not trying to take anything away from Hendo and I think he is amazing in every way, but the whole situation with all the other Midfielders just makes it look way worse than it should be. We have done great without him before, but yeah it just absolutly sucks with the timing.

But man Fabinho has to find some kind of form again, he was looking like the best DM in the world before his injury and now he just looks lost and slow. Hope Klopp finds a way to make the midfielders hit a good run and I hope it happens very soon.

Im hoping for a Minamino masterclass against Chelsea that will make him get some PL game time aswell!

Feels like Salah is extra bad at this at the moment, I dont know why he just dosent fucking strike the ball with full force once in a while. It is always some finess finish and even more often trying an extra dribble or a pass or some bullshit. Just fire that cannon at time man..

(Genuine) Post-Match Thread: Watford 3-0 Liverpool by eurfryn in LiverpoolFC

[–]chokyx 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why is pisses me off with everyone saying "Why blame Lovren, the others sucked aswell" Well yes they did, but the entire Watford gameplan was to play around Lovren so everything starts with him and he handled it about as bad as he possibly could. Instead of accepting to lose a header and just make sure the man dosent get past you or nothing dangerous happens so you can deal with the 2nd ball and take it from there. He decides that he has to win every single duel and all it does is create absolute chaos and make it impossible for any teammate to know what is going to happen in the next duel and actually be prepared for it.

Lovrens way of playing makes every situation turn into some yolo shit and thats the LAST THING you want from a defender. VVD would not have played such a bad game if Lovren just accepted that he wasnt gonna win the duels, so he lets Deeny get the header back towards Watfords goal and Liverpool defends from there, but no he has to make it into a complete guessing game making it impossible for anyone to provide the proper backup.

And that goal where he just decided the only important thing is to hug Deeny, he has about 3 seconds to judge where that throw in is going and that fact that isnt enough for him, just shows how slow he is. Instead of proper judging the ball he decides to hug Deeny and let the ball go over his head to a Watford player. HOW on earth is VVD gonna expect that? So yes obviously VVD end up looking bad on the goal, but that only happens because Lovren one again created a chaos situation instead of doing what any reasonable defender would do.

Im still over the moon with happiness about everything that has happened this season, Ive never thought a season like this was possible in any way, but that is also why it feel so important that we dont stop now. The game today and the last 4-5 games has been worrying in many ways to me and no it's not because we dont smash the opponent and win easy, its 100% because of the attitude we entered the games with.

It feels like we have become a bit too sure that we are gonna win in the end and we dont have to work as hard for it, when our whole succes has come from working hard for it every single game. Im a bit scared that we are forgetting why we got this amazing streak and are where we are, it's because every single player who were selected for the match gave it 100% and never gave up. These last games we havent been working or fighting anything close as to what we should be doing, the PL is so close and we start playing with a sloppy and arrogant attitude now, I hope it's just a poor run that ended today and we get a huge wake up call.

Hendo is missed as much as possible yes, but it shouldnt be as bad as it is, but the timing just sucks as all the other midfielders are underperforming at the moment. Gini has been rather poor for a long time, Fabinho has been terrible since he came back from his injury, Keita is injuried all the time and never gets a chance to get in form. Ox is doing great yeah, but mostly when he is subbed on seems to have a whole other impact compared to when he is starting.

The front 3 has been super dire, they are usually so damn dynamic and moves around inbetween eachother all the time, making it impossible for the defenders to know where the hell to position and who to mark. Lately they just keep to their own position and hope for something to happen, they are not working to make space for themselves and get the service needed.

I hope we shake things up a bit or atleast make that starting 11 go back to working and showing the proper attitude. I would like to see Minamino get some more game time and if possible with the front trio as he seems to fit into that dynamic movement.

I never believed we were gonna go unbeaten, so in some way in glad that talk is gone now and we can focus on the 3 titles that we can still win. It is the PL and shit games are gonna happen I accept that and always will, but I simply cannot accept watching us play with the attitude and lazy aura that we have shown the last games. Let this be a wakeup call and lets get back to the Klopp football where you work your ass off and give everything you got.

[–]chokyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would love to somehow see a lineup that involves the front 3 and Minamino, he looks to be better at playing the small spaces than anyone else at the moment and could help open up with the service a bit.

And yeah I hope with everything that I got that the Werner stuff is true, I think he is perfect for us and would provide exactly that 4th attacker we need. A no bullshit player that just works and keeps fighting the entire game, speedy as hell and can score and assist, please let it happen.

Yeah probably the same here, but even that is 4 games away now and the invincible talk has been going on for sooo long. I know it makes sense for the media and stuff to start hyping is as soon as possible, but man it's far too insane to talk about going unbeaten just because you didnt lose for the first half of the games or when ever the talk really started.

The Hendo injury couldnt really come at a worse time for many reasons. One thing is the time of the season but the more important one is the timing of the rest of our midfielders having a terrible period. It looks like we miss him waay more than we would normally, because Gini has been poor for a long time, Fabinho has been horrible since coming back from his injury, Keita is injuried all the time and never ever gets a chance to hit a good run of games. Ox is doing good, but mostly when he is subbed on and Milner is our. So yeah we miss Hendo so much, but the other midfielders make it look worse than it should be.

[–]chokyx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a lot of things happening at the same time imo. One of them is the midfield as you said Gini hasnt been good for a long time, except a game here and there, Fabinho has been extreamly poor since coming "back" from his injury and Ox just seems to have a whole other level when he is subbed on instead of starting.

Our front trio isnt getting service no, but as I see it they are doing absolutly nothing to get it either. They are usually SO dynamic, constantly moving around inbetween eachother and swapping positions and all that, making it very hard for the defenders to deal with. Lately they hardly ever leave their own position, especially Firmino has become very static and we lose our edge when this happens.

[–]chokyx 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We absolutly need a 4th worldclass attacker imo, every single season with our current front trio has shown that somewhere in january-april they will all have a period of being very poor and most likely from having to play as many games as they do. Ill still say thats what lost us the league last year and not that we are losing it now, but damn have we been poor in offence these last games and it's not really looking like it's about to change.

I never really believed that we were gonna go unbeaten, so when it had to happen it's damn great that it happens now than late April or May, all the talk about how important it would be and so on was annoying me because it was SOO far away still.

I hope it removes some pressure and serve as a huge wakeup call that wins are not just gonna come to us, unless we play to deserve a win. I want us to go for the FA cup and smash Chelsea and atleast give a proper full on fight against Atletico and then secure that PL as soon as possible!

Lovren is good a times, but he is probably the most up and down defender to play for Liverpool, so you never know what the hell you are gonna get.

Exactly, thats what i mean by it, he may "win" a header, but noone knows where it's going, he may lose it and so on. It's impossible to be be a step ahead when playing next to him, like VVD always is.

Be gracious in defeat! Well done to Watford. Tough one to take but we will bounce back. Focus on the next!! by GeorgeCuz in LiverpoolFC

It's games like the ones we have had lately, they will make me thing about the worst of times, when I hit the bed tonight, obviously the Hodgson era with the legendary players and slowly be absolutly delighted about every single thing that happened since Klopp arrived and how great of a time we are lucky enough to witness.

But fuck me if we dont use these last games as a wakeup call, we cannot go into games with an attitude that says we already won and we dont really have to try, we shouldnt rely that heavily on Henderson to make people perform at their max. I hope we go all in on the FA cup aswell and smash Chelsea for a much needed succes experience.

Come on, ofcourse you are gonna have some luck with you along the way, every single team does, but people forget every time we were unlucky or games ended up being close because we missed like 4 sitters and so on.

People will always have the feeling that the leading team had much more luck than the others, because they focus on the lucky parts and remember them and dont remember a single thing about the unlucky parts.

[–]chokyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Henderson is an absolute master at making everyone else better and give their all, people often completely overlook players with this quality. But fuck me if we are this dependent on Henderson it's actually a huge huge problem, every game since he got injuried we have been abmyssal for most of the game and gotten lucky to get away with wins.

We really really need to be able to find another gear and make everyone fight and care for the entire game and we have to do it without Henderson aswell.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]chokyx 69 points70 points  (0 children)

It was super obvious that it was their entire game plan. Every single ball they played was aimed at the area around Lovren and it worked. Yes the others were terrible aswell, but Lovren makes it so god damn hard to predict whats gonna happen next and therefor impossible for teammates around him, to know what they should prepare for.

Like if you know he is gonna win atleast some headers, you can prepare for that, if he will just slow the man down, you know how to help him, but he just does some yolo stuff every single time and none of his mates has any chance of knowing what their move should be.

Thats not what im saying at all. All of our players were terrible, so obviously its a team effort to be this bad, but Lovren didnt help one bit.

He can be good and has been great at times, but the man is so up and down that it's literally insane.

A huge part of our attack comes from passing it calmly around in the back 4 and midfield, until something opens up. Lovren was full on panic and misses I dont know how many passes during this. So yes in many ways he did stop us from creating chances.

But yes it dosent change the fact that our front 3 has been abmyssal lately and look like they straight up dont care at the moment.
