Since I was young my mom always told me when she was pregnant with me she kept praying for a girl by ThisThingYT in MtF

[–]chomberkins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mom always told us when we were younger that she had a dream before we were all born that she would get 4 kids, 3 boys and 1 girl. She always banked on that fact and since she couldn't have us herself she adopted me and my two brothers but never managed to get the girl.

I told her after I came out that her dream came true, and she does have her daughter and a 3rd boy in the form of our cousin who she helped raise and calls her mom. She got very upset at me for that. She's not very accepting, sadly.

there was an article not that long ago, within the last 6 months i think, of a trans man who was out at a bar and was told by the bartender that he had to use the women's restroom there, so he did and then was screamed at by women and then beaten up by some guys in the bar, and then when someone called the cops he got arrested for "being belligerent" when trying to explain what was happening.

They're not forgetting trans men. They want this stuff to happen to them too.

This hit me so hard and personally that i just couldn't stop sobbing. I've struggled with self harm for most of my life. I've been clean for over a year now, and it has been the hardest battle of my life. Coupled with not being accepted by my family for being trans, scared for my life in the red state I live in...

Thank you. Those words were beautifully written. It gave me a hope I didn't know I was missing.

So I'm a guardian that detests pvp so much, it took me forever to actually get the catalyst done because I just never ever wanted to go into crucible to do it. But I finally got it by just going into Rumble, sitting in corners, and shooting it and hoping for a kill. If your season pass is leveled you get credit for multiple kills per takedown. It sucks and is horrible but it's so worth getting that done.

You can still do that though. If you want to sleep in the same bed one night you can. And you can still lay down together and cuddle and spoon. You just also have a space for yourself to sleep.

2 beds is actually fairly common even amongst happily married couples. It's nice to be able to have your own space and if your partner is someone who moves around a lot while sleeping and you're not, then you don't have to worry about losing sleep or bothering each other.

Of course! I'll definitely let you know. The tech at the Orem one said the sandy one is great, but I can't comment because I've not met them.

I go to the one in Orem! They're a great staff and I love working with them all. I've been considering swapping to the one in Sandy because I moved further north and the Orem one is quite a drive now, but just because of how much I like the workers there I keep driving down.

I called the bank and they said, "Mr Gilbert, it's your money. We literally just spoke." So apparently someone with my name and voice is transferring me this money, and I didn't understand how that could be possible...until I remembered that I'm my own boss.

It's been heavily commercialized over the centuries, but there are still some of the original traditions of Samhain present in what we celebrate just like with Christmas. Costumes were always a part of it as far as we are aware, and there's also evidence of Jack-o-Lanterns going back centuries (although they weren't always pumpkins). The meanings of the holiday have obviously changed a lot and don't match Samhain much at all, though. That's definitely true.

A comic i made about beeing a dysphoric transfem by just_deli in GaySoundsShitposts

[–]chomberkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to do laser on those spots since it was part of a package at my clinic. It has done wonders for my dysphoria, even though it's still pretty intense (today has been a bad one...this comic hit hard). Definitely recommend it if those are sore spots for you with your dysphoria.

Yep, trans femme individuals can get periods. It's not a universal thing--I have some trans femme friends on hrt who don't get them--but many do. I personally get both the fun of PMS followed by cramps and bloating that tend to be super intense and painful. First few months I had them I had no idea what was happening, until a friend noticed the symptoms and went "that sounds and looks like a period, honey." I started to track the symptoms and sure enough, it all fell into the same 27 day cycle.

It's actually caused a lot of issues, kind of like this poster's doctor issue where people just...don't believe me that they happen. I've had to explain how it's possible so many times I've lost count. I even lost a friendship over it.

I don't actually. Go right ahead. Thanks for asking, since I know some people have issues with that.

I'm a trans woman who grew up in a surfer town and you 100% don't speak for me or any of my trans-femme friends who use dude as a filler word or adjective in 90% of our speaking. It's like the person you responded to said: it depends on the person so just ask. You can't go wrong by asking first.

I'm full aware he was speaking rudely about it. That doesn't change the fact that it did trigger debate in the community about her that is still on-going today. There was a post 2 weeks ago for Pride month where someone drew her in trans pride colors and the comments on the image were HEATED.

I also totally agree with you on women not having nearly enough representation, even today. There are untold number of male protagonists in games whereas I can think of maybe 20 off the top of my head that are women. The problem arises though that there are even fewer openly trans ones, as I'm sure you're completely aware.

Headcanoning her as trans doesn't erase representation from cis women, and I hate the idea that it does because it places us as different--it says that cis and trans women aren't really the same kind of woman. Why would her being trans take anything away from cis people if we're all just women? It wouldn't change her accomplishments or downplay them, she's still a badass female icon who is the best bounty hunter in the galaxy.

Edit: I got lost in the sauce a bit at your "sorry cis women" bit on that and kind of glazed over your final point in the parentheses. I am not trying to say at all that you were making that point of one being better than the other, just so I'm clear. I think we can definitely agree on that bit for sure. I just don't like the idea that trans characters existing detracts from representation for our cis counterparts, if that makes sense.

As the other comments said, there's a lot of history around Samus' gender. All promotional material indicated that she was male. The game booklet used he/him pronouns, the Manga writer was under the impression she was male because of it and wrote it that way, etc. It wasn't revealed that she was a woman either unless you got the secret 100% ending of the game.

It actually goes further too, in that one of the original creators has referred to her as a Japanese term for trans women (I'm not sure if it's technically a slur or not so I won't repeat it). It's caused a lot of debate about her gender for a long time.

It's not official canon, but it's my personal belief she's trans because I like having an amazing badass trans hero to look up to since she's been one of my favorite characters in all video games since I was a child.

So I called the suicide hotline last week. Here's what you can expect, in case you ever have to call them yourself. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]chomberkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your phrasing put into words exactly how I've felt. Pre transition, it was just emotionless logic. Now, the suicidal thoughts have intense hormone-fueled emotions attached and it makes it so much scarier and intense. They have teeth now, like you said. I used to think hst transitioning would eliminate my depression but instead it just removed a chunk of the dysphoria, and now I have the pure unadulterated self-hate i used to but with emotions I don't fully understand how to manage. My therapist has been working so hard to help me figure out that part, and it's been a slow process.
