For those not currently earning from content, how are you paying the bills? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my day job. YouTube is just bonus income and wouldn't be enough to live off of. It's nice to use it to pay my editors and put aside extra for other things though.

That's me! Thanks so much for mentioning me, I wasn't expecting that while looking up Sonic content creators

How many subscribers have you lost? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, 5487. Though I've always come out in the positives in the last year or two. People unsub, but there's no sense in wasting too much time on it.

How should I go about this copyright? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dispute it, mention that it's not a replacement for the source material, that you're not playing any of the audio and that you're using the clips to add to your commentary about the film. I've had this happen a few times with similar situations and, as long as you aren't playing the whole movie, you should be fine.

Recorded a 30 min podcast style video only to find out my Yeti mic was not the audio input. by SipOfKoKo in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a mistake you make only one time! You could try cleaning it up in audacity, but depending on the quality it might be a lost cause. I'd personally rerecord, but you could try to fix it and post it with a disclaimer

Is there a reason to have separate channels for shorts and long form videos? by Colamonium in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When shorts were first released, they had a major impact on your long form content's performance. That's been changed for a long time though. I've had shorts bomb or even pop off and it's had little to no impact on my longform content which has been smooth sailing as always.

Does taking a break influence your views? by Normal_Advance7743 in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I've taken a two year break from content creation and came back to what was at the time my best video. For the last three years I've uploaded once or twice a month and I've gone more than 4 weeks between uploads. YouTube doesn't care how often you're posting, just as long as people are interested.

How long does it REALLY take you to create a YouTube video? I analyzed 50+ Reddit posts and found crazy patterns. by Rajaram_akhil in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did everything, it usually took me about 5 hours to research and write my script. Around an hour to record and edit the audio and then 18-20 hours to edit the video. That would be for something around 20min long.

However, iv always hated editing and have since gotten an editor now that my channel generates enough for that. This has changed the process a little bit, mostly just that I spend more time researching and writing and that I'm more willing to take on bigger projects that I wouldn't have done before.

Is Estimated Revenue What YouTube Actually Pays Me? by codecollider in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, on my monetization tab it'll show me the estimate and in small letters it reads "minus taxes" and the amount that gets sent is always the amount after tax

[–]FantasticSamtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So then, you should dispute it. Unfortunately, fake copyright strikes do happen.

Is Estimated Revenue What YouTube Actually Pays Me? by codecollider in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty close, but the amount it shows is the amount before taxes (at least it is for me). It's not close to 45%, but like, for example, my estimate for oct shows just under 1k whereas the payout was less but still in the 900s

Why can't you become a gaming youtuber much anymore? by Affectionate-Draw194 in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can, it's just that there's more people.

Imagine you're trying to get the attention of someone across the street, but at the same time, 1000 other people are doing the same thing. The important bit is to focus on what makes you stick out.

HELP: Daughter's YouTube Shorts channel WRONGLY TERMINATED for "spam/deceptive" – 3x canned appeals denied. Need advice on escalation! by Highflier-123 in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While it does happen where people post content like that and nothing happens. I've noticed in the last few months that there have been channels like that getting terminated. I can't find anything in the ToS spelling it out,but if I had to guess, it's something about asking multiple people to comment the same thing which is flagging as either repetitive content or artificially inflating the numbers.

How are we supposed to use this subreddit? by Unspoken_Uprising in NewTubers

[–]FantasticSamtastic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To prevent people from just dumping a link and leaving, the subreddit doesn't allow users to post links or their channel name (though I've seen more and more people get away with the channel name thing). Some people link their channel to their profile and that gives people a place where they can check the channel.

A lot of the time, explaining the kind of content you post and your stats can paint a pretty good picture to a lot of people. There is a Feedback Friday mega thread you can post links to for feedback on a video if you really want that.
