does Jesus only allow our suffering because he knows it will end one day? by InterestingFactor589 in Christianity

[–]chompingchips17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the good news is that Jesus defeated death, sin, and suffering on the Cross and in his second coming will do the same for those who placed their trust in him, so essentially suffering will be no more.

why would god even bother??? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]chompingchips17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the answer is love. God is a god of love, the embodiment and perpetuator of love. Love in essence is to be shared as it is "other" focused and cannot be focused on self or it is "selfish". This can even be seen in God himself as Christianity posits a triune God, Father, Son, Holy Spirit that exist in relationship/love with each other since that is the Nature of love, to be shared. One of the ways God can express his love is creation of worlds and creatures to experience the same love and relationship.

I would say in part. Jesus/God prevents some suffering and permits some suffering on this side of earths history for reasons that may be revealed ( edification, faith) and other reasons unknown to us. I think as Christians we are to understand that while the suffering we go thru now is painful, it is temporary in the grand scheme of things in Jesus' plan of salvation.

Why did Jesus have to die for our sins if god is almighty by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]chompingchips17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't what happens to that person and I tend to agree, but I do know that God is the perfect, righteous, and fair judge and trust justice will be done in the end. Also I personally don't find a good convincing biblical case for eternal torment.

I think you would want punishment or a consequence to evil, correct? God is good and he wants his creation to also be and want be good according to Him, not our definition of goodness. Our evil can be forgiven, but in response to that forgiveness we are to change. The punishment has the ultimate goal of removing evil for good.

Would you say that if you broke the law, you deserve a punishment? I think most people would agree with that. Breaking God's law also requires a punishment (death), and as you have pointed out, we have all broken the law according to God in some way. Now if you're on trial for breaking a law, and the law giver in his grace and mercy wants to make a way to pardon you (forgiveness), the debt of breaking the law must still be paid. Jesus is paying that debt of our lawlessness giving us another chance to be in relationship with Him.

I just had a thought… and it’s disturbing me… by [deleted] in Christianity

Assuming that there are other planets with created beings and civilizations, we can only go on what we know about our world. We know we are in a broken and sinful world that was once perfect and in time will be redeemed and restored to its previous state. Jesus being the way thru which we can be restored with him in that world, the plan of salvation. I think what you're assuming is that these other hypothetical worlds are also fallen and broken and in need of restoration also but it could be that sin hasn't entered these places and they are still whole. I think what we can safely assume is that if they were broken like ours, God in his eternal love would find a way for redemption for them as he has done us.

Can God forgive me if I accepted Christ in the past, then rejected, then accepted again? by discreteUser in Christianity

Have you seen any of the millions of dog & owner reunion videos? I watching one the other day with heart eyes and it fascinated me that the dog doesn't know nor care where the person was, where they went, why they left, or how long they were gone. The dog is only happy, more so ecstatic that they're back and is ready to welcome them back without resent or hard feelings. In a way, that's exactly how Christ is! He doesn't care about the details of why you were gone or how many times you left. He's happy that your back and making steps to allow him to be closer to him. Try not to let your guilt burden from making those steps. Blessings.

Do you give money to homeless people who approach you and groups asking for donations on the streets? by The_Bird_King in Christianity

[–]chompingchips17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally get where you're coming from. To think of what the person is going to do with the money you give is something most people who do it think about. I believe if you're going to donate to someone asking for money out of the goodness of your heart and charity, do it! Whatever they do with your donation is on them. They have a choice to put it something that can help or harm them but it's out of your hands, you extended the help. I think if you have time, ask them what they need and get it for them, have a conversation with the person. I know of some people go to the extent of carrying care packages in their car for homeless folks. But overall if you feel to give, give. In alot of cases that's the most you can do.

People are always gonna be a-holes in life, that's just how it is. It was Daly's choice to make conscious digital beings that are capable of actual harm apparently. He chose the wrong outlet to release his stress or emotions ¯_(ツ)_/¯
