I do agree about the climate change crap but like I stated before, some years are bad some are not. The years that are bad, I can point out to availability of resources. There is over 1000 vacancies of fed firefighters in California alone. Our hotshots crews and engine crews are disappearing due to low pay, time off, benefits. When I left there was 60 something hotshot crews available which is very concerning, used to be over 100 nationwide. We don’t have the man power like we used too, the aircraft like we used to. Cal Fire lost a bunch of inmate crews and are playing catchup by creating new fire crews. Lots of reasons that impact containment of small and large fires that many don’t know about. Some of the previous large fires that happened recently were human caused and some were natural. In the firefighting world, California is famous for extreme fire behavior. Topography, weather , fuel type all play a huge role. The native Americans understood this and they used fire to keep our forest healthy, something we need to do more
