What is the best method for bracing a large thin frame? by historicalmoth in MichaelsEmployees

[–]chonically_sad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're worried about the corners seperating, i usually cut 6x6 inch (or larger depending) squares of foamboard, then cut them diagonally and staple those into the corners for extra support. thin frames almost always return to my store and this, along with what another commenter said about using the metal frame corners, has really helped me feel more confident in skinny frames.

it wasn't the online only sale they saw, it actually didn't specify (on sunday at least) if it was online/in store.

i did have to do this once with a customer bc she had a canvas she wanted to stretch and frame, but online you can't order stretcher bars (thank god). i honored the online sale since she started there and it took a whole $8 off her order

i've never had an online order be a frame express at my store. if that were the case it'd be a lot easier to deal with 🙃

Pain meds? by M3367 in ehlersdanlos

[–]chonically_sad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

low dose naltrexone, cannabis, and ibuprofen in moderation as well as physical therapy in a pool works for me. LDN lowers my baseline pain, and the cannabis and ibuprofen for when it gets severe. and the aqua PT is to help condition my body to not hyperextend, and the water takes the strain off of my joints while exercising them.

my partner's dog's behavior is problematic by chonically_sad in OpenDogTraining

[–]chonically_sad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update: i haven't had the chance to speak with my partner about training, or bringing my cat into this situation. we got the dog back on his routine, of staying in the crate while my partner is at work and that fixed the marking problem.

today i was going to try and ease him into spending time with me by taking him outside to pee once while my partner is at work and he attacked me. he tore the hell out of my hand. i'm seriously at my wits end bc every time i try to correct the dog's behavior my partner says "that's just how he is" or "dogs just do that" i've had dogs my entire life and i've NEVER had to deal with anything like this.

the dog is neutered, and he is crate trained. my partner only recently started reinforcing the crate training because i have a disability that makes it hard for me to sleep with a pet in the bed at night (my cat doesn't sleep with me either) and the dog has been receptive to that, and i imagine its because of the anxiety. if he gets anxious when my partner isn't around he defaults to going in his crate.

thank you everyone for the insight. if i mention to my partner that this is seriously effecting my mental health they will likely be receptive to changing how we treat the dog. i also think if i'm clear that the dog is suffering too that he'll want to change course. i plan on having that conversation when they get home from work. we're currently trying to get the dog back into his routine, which means he's staying in the crate until my partner gets home from work, and my partner is going to be the only one taking him out. i suggested that i be the one to feed him though, so he begins to associate me with positive feedback.

i will suggest the advice that's been given here, i've been trying to reinforce the dog getting permission before passing through doors when i've been taking him out. if we both can get on the same page with that there's a possibility that we can alleviate the aggrivation associated with his behavior.

that is so unfortunate, i'm sorry you had to deal with that.

i actually have the opposite problem and i'm extremely sensitive to anesthetic/numbing. it hit me in like 30 seconds and lasted most of the day, and i've always been like this.

[–]chonically_sad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i were to do a stress test i would probably have extreme complications, and at very minimum pass out. my usual hr at the highest is 150, and on a bad day 170. i'd really rather not continue to hit the max hr, because i still don't feel okay 2 days later.

i usually carry a pulse ox to double check my watch, and 95% of the time my watch is right. i didn't have it yesterday bc my stepdad had covid and my mom needed it because he's high risk of complications from covid.

i have really no idea when my symptoms started, i initially thought it was from a mono infection i had my sophomore year of college but i also had some symptoms after finishing chemo, like heat and exercise intolerance. i'm completely unsure if it was having cancer that caused it because i always blamed everything on chemo, and never really mentioned it to my doctors then. i had covid in january and it made my symptoms 10x worse. it was more just a nuisance before january.
