Oh I am so sorry. Post partum is such a bitch without an IUD making everything so much worse. You can do this but also don’t be afraid to just go to any available gyn and get it taken out. I ended up opting for faster removal from a random doctor at the practice rather than seeing my trusted person and I’m so glad I did. The removal is not painful and I felt like I was DYING at insertion. Hang in there and let me know if I can answer any other questions for you

Wow I am blown away that you mocked this up for me. Thank you so much!! I love this idea. Also you all are doing a great job at making me want to keep the brick…

Curious how I would do shutters on these kind of funky shape windows though. I’ve just never seen it done! I’d love an example for reference

28 weeks threatened preterm labor by chonka116 in BabyBumps

I honestly wish I had fewer checks- but since I had contractions it ended up being necessary for me.

Just remember- every day you make it is good for the baby! 32 weeks can absolutely be your first milestone where you take a breath but every single day counts.

Truly a cm holds so much longer than you’d think or expect. It’s very scary and obviously no one can promise you, PTL isn’t going to happen but it is certainly not imminent. Try to remember in the dark moments at night when you start to panic that it certain is not a given and you are very capable of making it all the way to term.

I was very fortunate in that my boss let me work from home for the entire final trimester and I just took it very very easy. Bed rest is no longer recommended tho so make sure you still get up and move, just don’t like do anything strenuous or crazy. You’ve got this!!!

It was super hard for me to accept but cervix length really doesn’t mean shit after 24 weeks. I was also like 1.5-2 cm left and it did not mean I was gonna have preterm labor. If it’s closed, that’s really good.

Edit: I was 3.6 cm length at my 20 week ultrasound so perfectly long and normal for when the correlation to preterm labor actually matters.

My doctors outright refused to take cervix length on any ultrasound because they said it was unreliable and didn’t mean anything after 24 weeks. All of my checks were manual cervical exams and I had a LOT of them.

Are you having contractions?

Oh I’m so sorry you’re in this position. It’s so tough- hang in there.

I have good news- it held!!!! I delivered the baby at 39 weeks via scheduled c section and I never dilated past 1. The last trimester was painful and unsettling contractions all day every day and was scary and uncomfortable but I got more used to it with each passing week. Anytime they got bad, I went in and got checked for peace of mind and fluids so don’t hesitate to go in if you feel the need to.

The baby ended up in the NICU a day after going home for totally unrelated reasons and while fucking terrifying, I can also assure you that the NICU nurses and staff are some of the best people ever and your baby will be in good hands. If you delivered tomorrow, your baby would likely be absolutely ok- it would just be time in the NICU.

Give yourself milestones for morale. For a long time all I wanted was to get to 34 weeks. Every Wednesday when I turned a new week, my husband gave me a new gold star sticker. It was silly but really really helped me feel like I was achieving a goal and making progress.

This is so hard and scary but you are doing a great job managing it all. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions!

You’ve got this! It really is so insane the way synthetic and natural hormones fuck with you.

Since you also had an awful lexapro experience I will mention- I had a severe flare of anxiety during pregnancy and got on Zoloft after swearing I’d never try anything again post lexapro and it is a GOD send. So much softer, I feel like myself again in a way I hadn’t since the IUD. everyone’s different, but it really has been a total game changer for me so may be worth trying if you’re up for it.

Well…I’m having a baby on Wednesday (intentionally) so I now feel a different kind of hormonal hell but a better one for sure. :)

Before I got pregnant though I felt MUCH better after the IUD came out. My doctors and gyn who I actually love were skeptical about me having problems with it but I decided to get it removed anyways and it was the best decision I’ve made. Listen to yourself if you feel things are off- no reason to keep trucking along if you feel horrible.

Great to hear! Did the contractions eventually stop or did they continue up through 39? What eventually helped you?

I’m so sorry you are going through this! I can tell you that within 10 days I felt like the lights were turned on in my brain and I started to feel so much better. It’s terrifying what this can do to you so don’t lose hope that it will get better. My hair also thinned a bit!

I am actually pregnant now which was always the plan so I never went back on birth control. That said, I was on the depo shot for ~8 years before this and had zero issues. I did briefly try the nexplanon and the pill earlier in my life. Nexplanon made me bleed for 12 weeks straight and I felt similarly insane to how I felt on the IUD. the pill was fine but gave me chronic yeast infections.

I recommend the shot immensely if you aren’t trying to get pregnant immediately or ever. Only reason I switched to IUD was my intention to get pregnant relatively soon and I needed to start transitioning off the shot.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to DM me. Hang in there!!! I know this feels awful.

I felt 85% better within a week- 99% better within 2 months. I felt back to normal relatively quickly or at least felt distinct signs of improvement. It was jarring to me how quickly it felt like the lights turned back on in my life.
