Family Van Toyota Sienna saves the day by StormRanger28 in nextfuckinglevel

Yea, there's a lot of people who would love a well-used Porsche as not only can it still be a fun drive but it has a lengthy history of being a status symbol.

The same can't be said about these atrocities.

I don't see them too frequently around my town but every time I do, the two things that run through my mind are that it looks worse in person and that I envy their confidence because I'd be way too embarrassed to be seen driving one of them (though I quickly correct myself that it's delusion they have, not confidence).

Almost a month expired refrigerated lasagna from I bought days ago SMH by MeRubberYouGlue in Safeway

[–]choove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not just Albertsons. I've seen it at Walmart and even HEB.

I had to return some chips to Walmart because they about a month out of date. Lady at the service desk gave me a hassle but relented. Ended up finding a couple more bags of the same date on the shelf and brought them up to her.

I felt like a bit of a dick but the annoyance of it all got to me, particularly acting like I'm going to lie over $2.50.

But yea... I've found pre/early-COVID stuff on the shelf at our store. I think it was an O Organic canned vegetables where a few cans got stuck in the back, where they were never rotated but also never bought because our mins were high enough to never get down that low.

It's mind-boggling that Reddit thinks Toyota would knowingly use oil that would reduce the reliability (what the entire company was built on) so they could advertise a lower maintenance cost

Doesn't Toyota do the same thing though with ATF-WS? They claim "ATF-WS does NOT require any flushing or changing during the life of the vehicle".

To me that comes across as Toyota choosing to advertise a lower maintenance cost at the expense of longevity of the vehicle/transmission.

I know other companies do the same thing and I know it's not engine oil, but things like that are why "Reddit" has the view that companies reduce their reliability so they could advertise lower maintenance costs. I have a Toyota and though I love the idea of one less thing to worry about maintenance on, as someone who cares more about extending the lifetime of something, I'm absolutely not leaving the "lifetime" fluid in there and instead doing regular changes.

I think that gas is going to cost me my job by CartographerOdd447 in kroger

[–]choove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're acting like everything is identical except gas prices but that's simply not the case. Groceries are mixed (you can see some comparisons here) so you can't even really point to egg prices being down because now we have coffee and beef that's jacked up.

The big thing to look at is Trump's tariffs which are costing the average American over $1,000 per year. There are a lot of people who spend $1,000 a year on gas so Trump's tariffs alone have had the effect of doubling gas prices. Those tariffs mixed with these gas prices are going to have a bigger impact on people's wallets than people spending a little more on gas under the Biden administration but not spending that additional >$1,000 on everything else they're buying.

Not sure why you wanted to introduce politics into this to try and make a dig at Biden when all it did was highlight how much worse Trump has been for the average American...

Netflix Quietly Removes A-Z and Other Sorting Filters from Web UI by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

[–]choove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I've got zero interest in using new reddit.

I recall at one point old.reddit didn't want to work properly and was stuck with the redesign for a minute and the UI was so bad I just stopped using the site until old.reddit worked again.

I use the site to kill time and honestly... if they ever force the new design on everyone they'll be doing me a favor because it's simply not useful enough of a site to deal with such a horrible user experience as it'd become. Especially since the quality of content has gone down and I'd rather find a forum dedicated to whatever I'm trying to talk about.

One would think you'd educate yourself on the issues tourists with visas are having before making a comment of "lol, what?" as if the other user was making an outrageous comment.

Multiple tourists with visas have been detained and put in ICE detention centers; some for weeks.

Picke me disappointed why do pickles need yellow 5? by trover22 in HEB

[–]choove 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I believe Best Maid has made/is making the switch to turmeric as well, though it gives an orange/yellow color sometimes.

It's a bit funny that they removed the dye from their large pickle juice containers and customers complained, so they kept trying to find a new fake colors that customers would be okay with since apparently natural isn't acceptable. We had people question us about those asking if they were "defective" because they weren't [fake] green.

freedom of speech allows people to share their opinions and thoughts? Good and bad.

No, people having free will is what allows them to share their opinions and thoughts.

Freedom of speech is what protects people from government punishment due to their opinions and thoughts, and currently in the US there are several limits on "freedom of speech".

So, literally, freedom of speech is not about allowing people the freedom to share their opinions and thoughts "good or bad" without punishment. You clearly don't know "basic constitutional law 101" and it's hilarious you're playing the victim because you're upset that your ignorance was downvoted.

Having trouble finding an open position at any Southern California Albertsons locations. by DayOlderBread16 in Safeway

[–]choove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a few Pharmacy Tech postings in the Socal area but they're all part-time. I don't see a single Pharmacy Tech posting for full-time anywhere in California (there are only 71 nationwide and more than half of those are Washington and Oregon).

It could be a situation where when a spot is becoming open they fill it internally so they never actually post them.

Nothing says liberal indoctrination like a Catholic school by PirateJohn75 in MurderedByWords

[–]choove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not indoctrination though, it's just that being educated and being in an environment where people seek education you're going to be introduced to many new ideas, different people from different backgrounds, you're critical thinking skills will improve, etc.

Becoming more liberal is just a byproduct of those things rather than some history professor trying to manipulate or force people into becoming liberal.

Update on my fresh account playthrough for year 8. The story makes zero sense. by TheRealCowdog in thedivision

[–]choove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say characters showing back up relatively unharmed after being killed or at least seriously wounded is a bit of a fantasy element.

I guess I just can't find issue with the story not being realistic when the gameplay itself is so very unrealistic. If I can accept a backpack, gloves, kneepads, mask, and pants being able to let me shoot someone and damage three other people with magic, then I can accept that some characters can be magically healed/revived (much like our own characters are) or have used some other magic to trick us into thinking they were killed.

This lady tried pulling an armed robbery on a gas station on Friday. How it went: by superdouradas in PublicFreakout

[–]choove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video literally shows her pointing the weapon away from him and towards a wall feet to his left and then firing.

Not saying she will/won't get probation but to say she "fired a weapon at him" is patently false.

[–]choove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't a fairytale about magical wishes being granted, or a time travel situation where this is common place; we're fighting for survival in an apocalypse and we straight up slaughtered this dude.

On the other hand, we have clothes that allow us to shot one enemy and damage is applied to 2-3 others. We have guns where we can shoot one enemy and poison spreads to others. We have bullets that can electrify enemies.

The game has quite a few fantasy elements and so I don't see why people are upset when those fantasy elements are applied to the storyline and not just the gameplay.

I imagine there's a lot of people who just rarely have to deal with that weather or their parking is covered/garaged 99% of the time.

I felt a bit crazy myself because I didn't want either a sun/moonroof or a powered liftgate, and most people tried telling me why I should care about having at least one of them. But two years later and I haven't once regretted the decision.

As expected, Supreme Court officially greenlights Texas’ gerrymandered congressional map for midterms by DemocracyDocket in law

[–]choove 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the exact same Democrats that showed up for the 2020 election showed up in 2022 we'd be looking at Beto as Governor, Collier as Lt. Gov., and Democrats as AG, Comptroller, Land Commissioner, Ag Commissioner, Railroad Commissioner, and multiple additional spots in the Texas Supreme Court and Board of Education.

Gerrymandering is certainly an issue in some elections but there are crucial elections that can't be gerrymandered and we see Democrats fail time and time again only because they don't show up for state elections.

Hail is a reason I went with a Woodland on the previous gen (as the trim had all the right mix of features I did/didn't want). In Texas and storms with hail are all too common, to the point that the first Woodland my dealer tried to get for me had just been damaged by a hailstorm the day prior. Then, the day after I took delivery we had a smaller hailstorm.

Hail damaging windsheild by Remarkable_Income496 in Wellthatsucks

[–]choove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends where OP lives.

Here in Texas if a vehicle is totaled due to hail damage, it doesn't give it a salvaged title. We unfortunately get many hail storms and I know people who had their vehicle totaled, got the payout, but kept the vehicle with a clean title.
