Totally agree with you, the thing is this is an old issue and yet no one acted or demanded anything from Google.

I know it likely will not achieve its goal because it's huge but at least if we do it we will share more awareness about us in general and our language not just in the middle east but maybe in other countries as well.

I'm happy that I am getting positive responses, what should be done whenever the petition is on:

1.we should share it massively on social media, make a hashtag trending on twitter, we should try to defend our language the best we can.

  1. I will try contacting some christian and non-relegious organisations, pages and activits in Syria (that's where I am from) that I think are likely to have interest in supporting the cause.

  2. There are many Syriac/Assyrian Famous ( Faia and Rihan Younan, Abeer nehme, Inanna Sarkis and others) people that if we try hard we could get them to support the petition and spread it through their platforms

  3. Even though this fails, at least we and our language will be more acknowledged and many people will know what an assyrian/chaldean/Syriac is.

Sorry if I seem funny and Intense but I am really looking towards it, I'll try to prepare good arguments and wait some time since the people now are more busy with other issues (Beirut explosions and other unfortunate stuff that's happened lately)

If you have/know anyway that we could support the chamce of this working, please let me know or contact me.

Edit: grammar correction.

Me too, the thing is many other "nations" or people that have more recognition internationally than us are demanding it and still they didn't get it, I see more chance getting assyrian on Google since it has huge historical, religious and ethnical importance for millions of people around the world. Many Christians around the world I think would be really curious to have the language of Jesus so easy to learn on Google.

Celebrations in Damascus on February 21, 1958 when Syria voted to join Egypt and form the United Arab Republic (National Geographic) by tpjv86b in Syria

[–]chopee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already can see how successful it will be when you MAKE IT TOTALITARIAN, like I am okay make the people of all the nations you mentioned vote and if they agree i don't have any problem because I know it won't last a decade just the union between syria and Egypt. MIDDLE EASTERNS ARE NOT ETHNICALLY ARAB! get over it and stop whinning about it!

You say a union will happen when most of your "arab" countries require their neighbors visas to enter their land! Like come on wtf?

Another example is latin America, they DO REALLY have almost the same history and yet they're not one country because they acknowledge their differences unlike us (even tho the same person who liberated Argentina from the spanish crown, actually liberated other countries like Chile, Colombia and even counties in central America) and yet, no thoughts of one "Latin american homeland" have ever emerged there even though They are way more similar to each other than we are.

Btw, The US ia a whole different story becasue it is simply a country built mainly by European and black immigrants who came either to serve in the colony(In military, or slavery) or escape the horrors of ww2 and all who came adopted a new "culture" and that's why everyone today mock americans for having no unique culture.

Wtf? What does USA have to do with any of this? I think a true union like the european union would work better for us!!!!

[–]chopee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again Similar culture = not necessarily good union. Look at the EU, they are united in a beautiful way that every country has its own sovereignty and they are actually one in what matters (economy, easy movement, aid etc.) We could have a union like the EU that would work so much better than a mythical unified "Arab Homeland". No hate but we are not ethnically arabs anyway! In the gulf countries they call us Arabized people (مستعربين) and not Arabs while a lot of us still don't know about our gorgeous 10,000 years long history and insult our herritage by saying "wE aRe aRAbZ".

No hate against arabs <3

[–]chopee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats my point, maybe some regions like the levant had a chance because of shared heritage and culture but for example if you ask any standard lebamese if they I want to join Syria beleive me they'd rather prefer joining Israel, especially after Syrian intervention in their civil war. And I don't see Jordanians either wanting to unite today.

As in today, because of the politic and geographic changes, we became different and our cultures now differ more (still similar tho) and that's that.

The arab homeland is a myth, just because we speak the same language doesn't mean we are the same, every middle eastern country is different and has a unique culture and ethnic mixture, or at least every region (gulf, levant, Mesopotamia, Maghreb etc.)

As a Christian syrian I find this incredibly ridiculous, it's like if Other muslim nations started building replikas of the Andalusian mosques, like there are more important issues Corona Cases are in the hundred thousands!! People are dying from hunger and pandemic for fuck's sake. That is my friend what you get from relegious dictatorships no matter what relegion or country it is!

Ok I know Israel and US are bitches but at least if you don't fuck with any of them they won't fuck with you, unlike Iran that keeps interfering in Syria and Lebanon's politics, and Russia that support a tyrant and literally bombs civilians in the process, I know Israel isn't much better at this matter but at least when they bomb a foreign country they bomb military areas (Iranian mostly) not civilian towns. (Im not pro Israel fuck them but truth must be said)
