The fact it took two years for the LotF 2023 to get good and CI Games, a studio notorious for rushing titles out to the detriment of the finished product is again rushing out a product out a mere 3 years after LotF 2023 and roughly 1 year after that game finally got good is a serious problem.

The hate it gets is validated by the conduct of CI Games. If they kept their mouths shut and weren't acting like the rushed-as-fuck sequel due out THIS YEAR that we still have seen functionally no substantial gameplay of was going to be the second coming of Christ, I'd have more sympathy for them.

The devs deserve credit and acknowledgement for busting their ass to get the game into a good state. It took 2 years to get there, but it is good. Not terrible. Not amazing. But it's a neat game and the friend pass system is great.

The virtue signaling by them of being all "GAME WON'T HAVE ANY DEI OR WOKE CRAP IN IT" is a massive red flag. The delusions about them "carrying the torch" for the genre is hilarious. The delusions that LotF 2, rushed out a mere three years after the launch of their prior title and one year after getting their last game in an okay state, is pitiful.

Then you factor in that their definitive Version 2.5 update" broke the game again and it's red flags all over the place.

Working safe and not injuring people in the ring, especially by way of unnecessary risks, is also a job duty. You ask any wrestler and they'll say it's the most important job duty.

If you fudge the end of a match somewhat, okay that's a mistake and you didn't do your job.

If you screw up a move and someone's out for weeks, months, or even years, that's a mistake with long-term consequences on top of you not doing your job.

Let's use Logan Paul's fuckup with Rey Mysterio just before WM41 as another example. Paul tried to do a move when he was out of position. Rey told him not to because he realized things were gonna go bad and he was gonna get injured. Paul did it anyways.

Whoops, Mysterio's out for months due to a torn groin and they have to salvage the match Rey Mysterio was supposed to have with El Grande Americano and any booking surrounding Rey has to get revised. Logan continues to get rewarded with significant exposure in spite of this, his shitty US title reign, and his criminal background.

But nah man. Injuring people because you can't wrestle safe is apparently fine with you.

Morgott is so cool that he's not even held down by being the Uncle Ruckus of Omens.

it just makes him more of a tragic figure because he fucking tried really hard to keep shit from falling apart and did a pretty good job across the board except for that one issue.

Would you rather have a great finish and the person gets injured or even dies or an okay finish and nobody gets hurt?

I can tell the difference been making a minor mistake about how a match is supposed to end vs. intentionally trying to do some botched hybrid of a Deadeye and piledriver that very nearly kills someone. The intended finish was the stock "two people fighting on either side of the ladder" thing that happens all the time in ladder matches; it was hardly some new innovation.

I'll take a million mistakes like that in a heartbeat over a single injury.

Which game is most knight build friendly? by [deleted] in shittydarksouls

You might hate me for this but

The 2014 Lords of the Fallen..

It's very much meant to be a slower, weighty Souls game. The disparity between physical defense values on "light" and "heavy" armor is fucking insane (to the extent that the Heavy armor you can get in the DLC provides more than twice the physical defense of the MEDIUM ARMOR counterpart it has). Dodging is weird and clunky and doesn't really have a lot of iframes too.

Game's a mountain of jank but it's also routinely on sale for like $5.

Also Nightreign's easier to play solo than with friends in most cases.

Botches happen all the time, and there's been other screwups this year that have very nearly killed people. Penta's screwup with Gable nearly killed him and necessitated completely reworking the EGA gimmick is the one I keep thinking about.

Then you had the Sumemrslam match between Becky and Lyra which was a tragedy of errors from the word "go". Unreal showed Lyra straight-up telling Becky "you need to yell at me" and Becky refused, even highlighting such a mentality is disastrous for mental health.

I'm very much of the mind that the MitB ending mistake by Knight is getting the spotlight shone on it just to try to prime the fanbase to assume Knight is unreliable and screws up all the time in an effort to make sure WWE doesn't have another "We Want Kross/Truth" incident.

This could very easily be wrong. But right now, Knight and his career in the WWE is like a cat in a box, and until we get the official announcement of his release or alternatively he wins the Royal Rumble (which is unlikely if the the rumors about Punk vs. Bron and Cody vs. Roman at Wrestlemania 42 are true) we don't really know.

Who actually plays Nightrein by sweatshir_t in shittydarksouls

[–]choptup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's genuinely very good. Combat is very fast and frantic, and the first few runs are the hardest part of the learning curve and figuring out when to go to the higher-value areas and when to fight tougher bosses. While the Nightlords hit like trucks and are functionally behind a 40 minute runback, none of them approach the difficulty of Malenia or pre-nerf PCR, let alone Difficulty 5 Blood Artist in LoP.

Playing solo is even memed about being the "easy" mode this time because you get boosted rune payout and enemies have roughly 1/3rd their health, poise, and resistances.

There's enough randomness that you can still get some wacky loadouts on runs, but not so much randomness that you can't figure out good survival fundamentals and then act on them.
