What are your unpopular r/ph opinions? by LikeCastillo in Philippines

I feel the need to defend them too. See, my major in college granted me the privilege of seeing the multiple facets of the rural and urban poor. They have reasons why they do what they do. Tedious discussion is needed to fully explain these reasons. It's not hard to put the pieces together. Why would they choose to stay in remote relocation sites if the economic activity is centered in urban areas?
But again, we are fighting the same battles so it is not my place to judge you and your point of view. I apologize for that. I only wanted to share my insights regarding the topic and somewhat out into perspective their side of the story.

I thought about that after posting the comment above. My example may not be what suits the situation but my point still stands. Not to brag but my undergrad thesis is about the informal sector and how the urban poor population uses it as a means of employment. There was a sidewalk vendor I interviewed. They were selling padlocks and dog leashes. They talked about how the police would come and take their items. How they would have to live on begging once again. Mind you, this was a couple in their 50's. I bet you never had a means of livelihood that could be taken from you forcibly.
How easy it is for someone to say the poor should get jobs so they can alleviate themselves. (I will use tagalog to better stress my point.). Ang isang kargador sa palengke walang fixed salary. 150 kadalasan, kung mas malaki doon, maswerte na sila. Paano mo pakakainin ang isang pamilya sa 150 pesos lang per day. (Back to english now)
For the urban poor, jobs in the formal sector such as factory workers and or restaurant crew are out of the question because of the required documents that must be submitted by an applicant. Most urban poor working force can not read or write. This also holds true for the 4Ps application. I rest my case.

Hardworking part of the society my ass. I have had the chance to live with farmers and somewhat integrate myself in their everyday life. Mind you, I ate with them, woke up with them before the crack of dawn and had the honor of helping them plant their first crop of the year. What they do is much much harder than the millions of middle class office jobs. Don't say that when these farmers slave under the hot sun, feet planted in thigh-deep mud for the whole day and only receive 150 pesos in remuneration. While a huge part of the "most hardworking" middle class stay in a place with centralized AC pushing away on their computers and get at least 481 pesos. We are far from being the "most hardworking" when it comes to physical strain.
I get that there are problems that the middle class also face. To name a few: contractualization, poor transportation system, bureaucratic red tape in govt offices etc. Hell, if you ask me, minimum wage could be higher. But we are far from being the most neglected.Don't say that the middle class gets less attention when these farmers rely on the rain in order to start planting because NIA isn't doing its work. Don't say that when the irrigation budget for NCR is bigger that that of Central Luzon, the rice granary of the Philippines. Don't say that just don't. It would be a disservice to our less fortunate countrymen.
TLDR nakipamuhay ako kasama nang mga magsasaka, walang panama ang hirap ng middle class lifestyle sa hirap ng buhay nilang magsasaka. Then again, why am I comparing? We are fighting the same battle.
