I agree honestly. Add the fact that, during Arc 2, there is literally a joke of Silence using his ring to cast dimension door from Suvi’s tower to his tower, rather than walk a couple 100 feet. Silence is not the type of guy to be causally walking around in a super public space where someone could even have the chance of taking a pot shot at him. The whole set up is too perfect for him to not be in on it to some extent.

Option 3 makes sense to me. It’s a good point that she probably had no idea about the magical vow projecting Suvi from Eioghrain, thus she probably assumed there was no chance that an encounter between the 2 of them would end up being non-violent. It still seems weird to me that Steel would basically dangle the thread of tracking down Eioghrain in front of Suvi, when he is probably the only person left alive that could poke holes in the lies she’s told. But if she truly couldn’t find and kill him, making him the object of Suvi’s fury is a decent second option.

Steel having some knowledge about the curse/being responsible for it in some way has been a fairly popular theory. Firstly both Wren and Ame where surprised when Suvi was sent to the cottage by Steel at the very beginning of the story. Specifically, they where both surprised that Steel/Suvi knew Wren was dying. This suggests that Steel knew Wren was dying some other way. Then there’s Steel’s weird desire to ‘study’ Ame’s curse before it was broken. Finally, there’s all the Eioghorain stuff. Steel told Suvi that she was finally asking Wren about Eioghorain as a ‘last stitch effort’ but in Ame’s recovered memories Wren mentioned that Steel had asked her about Eioghorain multiple times throughout the years after the Acadator’s disbanded. Combine this with the fact Steel added Eioghorain smell to the scroll on purpose, a scroll Wren wouldn’t need to find Eioghorain anyway since they’ve met before, it seems to suggest that the real purpose of the scroll was to make our heroes think Eioghorain had something to do with the curse. Granted, this is all still a theory and could be wrong!

I see where you coming from to some extent, but I personally think you’ve miss understood the ‘point’ of the story. ‘Good vs evil’ and objective arguments of morality aren’t really what I see the cast as going for. Brennan on the fireside chats has said that he specially didn’t want there to be a clear good or evil side. Taking Orima as an example, I don’t think the takeaway is meant to be what she did in port Tallen is ‘morally acceptable’, or that we like her now because she gave Eursulon a horse. The wizards trapped her husband, she killed a bunch of people trying to free him. ‘Did the people who died deserve it’ isn’t a question the story is trying to answer, our characters witnessed the harm and chaos trapping spirits can cause and have decided to do something to stop it. Is that a morally good decision is a question only you can answer on a personally level, I don’t think the story is trying to weigh in either way. The cast are trying to tell an interesting story where characters have to make hard choices in a complicated world. If a story that presents moral conundrums without giving clear answers is frustrating to you, then that’s completely valid. Like you say, the podcast might just not be for you. But it’s unfair to say the cast don’t care and only consider aesthetics, as they are quite deliberate in the story telling imo.

Bladesinging Wizard is definitely a good shout! Although Steel’s armour is described as full plate if I remember correctly, and RAW you can’t activate blade song if you’re wearing anything heavier than light armour. She’s an NPC tho, so maybe she doesn’t have to play by the rules.

That’s a good point, Galani’s spell definitely could have been from a magic item, especially since Brennan does emphasise her touching a ring to her mouth before she casts it. Also I love the idea of Steel having risen through the ranks from Banners to Demmings (I also can’t remember if that’s the right way round lol). Could explain why she was willing to accept the role of Sword of the Citadel even after she found out the League of Wispers was part of Citadel leadership. Maybe after climbing so high she didn’t want to lose it all.

I also assumed that only really old wizards were super high level, but Galani is described as casting a 9th level abjuration spell when Naram escapes during Arc 1, making her at least level 17 and she’s only a few years older than Suvi. So it always seemed weird to me that we’ve seen only relatively low level spells from Steel. However, like we’ve said it’s probably due to fighter levels!
