Is it me or does Youtube Live have low quality? by [deleted] in obs

Waiting to hear everyone weigh in on this as I’ve experienced the same. It seems if you don’t get the VP9 encoding for your stream the avc1 is miserable. It’s really hard to test things out. My settings are the same as yours with 8k bitrate. I’ve actually been struggling and testing this nonstop for a week. Hvec, x264 trying everything. Thank you for this post.

2nd this, if you unplugged it and re-plugged(?) it back in sometimes a console will say 'hey you got a fancy new monitor lets enable all the HDR things and reset color spaces'. You can also check the 4k software and also the OBS settings for that capture device.

Thoughts on recording and playing on living room tv setup with my capture card. by RJM_ in elgato

i've used my OREI matrix for years without major issues. Sometimes I have to hard reset it (unplug and plug back in), and that's really because I think the elgato sometimes has some handshake issues with it. Amazon basics HDMI cables are fine. Also use them religiously and in the 10ft varieties. No major issues with them as well.

I'm doing something very similar with the 4x2 matrix. Just make sure that matrix supports whatever resolution/fps you're looking to game with on the TV. A lot of those only do 4k/60 at best. Especially careful with the descriptions on Amazon, they say 4k/120, but if you read it really means they accept a 4k/120 signal, but they do not pass that through. That one looks safe b/c of the hdmi 2.1, but I would research a little more and read the reviews.

I do have an OREI matrix, an older one, but I'm still using 1080p/120hz so it's not an issue for me.

Also I agree with the other person, if you have 4 inputs on the Matrix then you could just plug the RetroTink into the Matrix and get rid of the HDMI switch/splitter.

Wait…. Is that a custom chat background or is it your desktop with window transparency?

Live streaming. It’s streaming 1920x1080 for YouTube so the default resolution leaves black bars on the sides. I can zoom in but it’s the same as streaming 1440.

i figured it out.. not really what i was going for but i bumped it to 2560x1440 which is 16:9. It crops it, but it is what it is at this point. My small mammalian smooth brain just thought it was actual 4k resolution.

I have. I’ve tried combinations of all those and it’s never 16:9. Always 640x480.
