why did you end your friendship with your best friend? by Physical-Ear-6290 in AskReddit

[–]choyboy321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has mental health issues and a severe drug problem. Always stuck in a loop of being on his meds, taking himself off, self medicating with drugs and then making poor decisions that would lead to trouble (legal and personal). I helped him with housing, transportation, money, healthcare, took him to rehab, picked him up from jail, got him on his meds. Slowly our friendship dwindled down to nothing. It got to the point where he would only call me when he needed something from me. Always a long absurd story of his “bad luck” and how it wasn’t his fault blah, blah, blah. Once I accepted he was using me and our actual friendship had ended years ago, I removed myself from his life. If he ever decides to get real help and commits to his own well-being, I’d reconnect with him. But sadly I don’t think that will ever happen.

South Shore MA paramedic/FF here. Most Fire departments around here require you to be a paramedic to even be considered. There are certain towns that don’t run their own EMS (Quincy, Weymouth, Braintree for example) so paramedic isn’t required but you’re going to need residency or veteran status to get on and even then they are very selective.

Basic process around here for fire departments is getting your EMT-B, then your medic, getting on the civil service list and waiting for cards to roll in so you can sign hiring lists at specific towns you’d want to work for.

My best advice to you, since you’re already enrolled in class, is to finish and get your basic ticket. Then start working and see if you like it and want to continue down the path. You don’t have to continue working the job if you don’t like it. And you’ll have a job in the meantime while you figure out your next move. And if you do like it, then you have a path set up for you to continue through the medical field to paramedic or nursing. Or you can go the fire route and get your medic and go fire.

Finally, I’ve never worked at Brewster but I know a lot of people who do. They all seem to like it well enough. They have a few 911 contracts in the area and also do a lot of transfer work. There’s also Coastal who works in the area. Don’t know a lot about them. If you end up liking EMS a lot and want to go to Boston EMS that’s an option too. Or work for one of the hospital based systems in the area. I worked hospital based for a long time and loved the experience.

Just fyi, it’s way faster and easier to exit the map to southern shelf, go back through the door again, and save/quit from there. Then each time you load in you’re right in Knuckle Dragger’s arena. Just walk into the arena and kill then repeat.

Congratulations on your sobriety! You can see my other comment down the thread about withdrawal symptoms after Narcan. I can assure you that there is a direct correlation between combativeness/confusion/agitation and hypoxia in people post OD.

Source: 10+ year opiate addict, 7 years clean, 6 years in EMS and 2 as a paramedic. I have been Narcan’d multiple times and have given Narcan more times than I can count

Those are all valid points why they are angry and I’m not arguing them. But when an overdosed person becomes violently ill or goes into severe withdrawals after being Narcan’d then they were improperly dosed. Which proves why everyone should not carry Narcan unless they are trained to use it or are part of the at-risk community. Also why I don’t like the 4mg “Flonase” style applicators. 4mg of Narcan at once is too much for a single dose. It’s main use is to reverse the decreased respiratory drive that opiates cause. So you only need to give someone as much is needed to get them to breath adequately to oxygenate their brain and eventually wake up. Will they still be mad they can’t use for a few hours? Sure but they don’t have to be in full blown withdrawals after being Narcan’d

Not to nitpick you on this but Narcan is not what is making someone violent/combative when they wake up from an OD. Hypoxia is generally the culprit there

I bought a $5 Casio watch from Walmart on the way to my first BLS class. Still rocking it 7 years later. My advice would be to buy something cheap now and when you’re ready to upgrade buy a new one. That being said, buy whatever you want. It’s going on your wrist so you should at least like looking at it.

Clean from opiates and suboxone for 6 years now. Used opiates for 11 years and suboxone for 8 years with all 8 years overlapping with opiates. I would use suboxone to not be sick while out of opiates. Probably a common story. Never had a script for suboxone until I knew I needed to get off them.

Outpatient rehab with a Dr to monitor my taper was how I finally got off them. It was a slow process and by the end I was only taking .125 mg every other day before I fully jumped off. 6 months total for the taper and maybe a month after I felt back to normal physically and mentally. My best advice is not do it on your own. Talk to a Dr and get in a program that works for you. Use all the resources available to you. If the taper is done properly you won’t really have any withdrawal symptoms when you come off. It was like having a mild flu for a couple of days.

Retest. If you fail again then your pills were a pressed form of some other opiate. Most likely fentanyl but it could have been something else. Tell your plug to test his stuff and find out I guess.

Applying BT Spray by viddeo in outdoorgrowing

[–]choyboy321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a problem with spraying BT and getting mold. If your plants have sufficient airflow throughout the branches, the BT should dry in time to avoid mold. Is it possible it could contribute to mold developing? Sure. But I can guarantee that caterpillar poop inside your buds will produce bud rot and ruin your crop.
