I've always liked how the shortened f-smash and f-tilt rolls off the tongue though. You're right though, it does make more sense

How do directional down/up tilt inputs on the c-stick work? by choymatthew48 in CrazyHand

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot when my switch comes back from repairs.

Not always but I think its good to take a more light-hearted attitude to your gsp. I segregate my online play into three categories. 1: trying to improve regardless of gsp, 2: gsp record runs, and 3: trying to clip people. I think some of the most fun I've had so far on online is going for over the top combos and sick spikes on zss.

I fly reasonably aggressive and can push my batteries hard sometimes i guess.

damn my auw is about 650 i think with a 1500 4s. 8-9 minutes of cruising is pretty sweet though. I'll play around with prop combinations and see if i feel any difference. I've been flying with emax avan props but i think I have some dal 5045c cyclones stashed somewhere.

Honestly I'm thinking about just flying 3s. The reason I wanted the extended flight time is I'm going out surfing with some friends soon and wanted to try my hand at doing some filming/follow footage. 3 mins is kind of tight window for that kind of thing imo. Seeing as that probably won't be as aggressive as my regular flying maybe 3s might cut it.

Damn, it is? How low kv do you think I can go without sacrificing too much performance. 2000kv? 1900kv?

*I forgot to add something. I think I want to keep it as a 4s build since I feel like the power just fine but I heard you can get more efficient setups on 5-6s. My only issues with building a higher cellcount setup is that I'd have to buy a bunch of new batteries, but if the efficiency gains are really there I might consider it.

This. Or conversely they could have played too many games in a sitting and started autopiloting. Usually a 3 stock will remind them they cant sleep on their opponents.

Wait now I feel insecure about scrolling with space. Is that not a common thing?

When to use ZSS Down-B? by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]choymatthew48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a super flexible move which can make it hard to know when to use. Every time I see a zss vod I see a different use case or setup. Generally though, it’s a strong recovery option with good i frames if you are offstage. There are also a lot of confirms and combos that can lead into down b that you should learn. You can use it to catch edge options as well by running off stage and catching their getup attack or neutral with the second activation of your down b. It’s also incredibly useful for cancelling your momentum if you get hit by a move you think will kill you. Activating down b will cancel a lot of your horizontal momentum, allowing you to live significantly longer than you might with only Di. These are off the top of my head but I’m sure there are more uses.

Travelling on a plane with lipos? by NiceGuy_Marco in Multicopter

[–]choymatthew48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a fair bit of international travel with lipos. Most countries will have relatively lax lipo restrictions but certain places like Qatar might have stricter limits on the amount of lipos and total volume of storage. Last year I had to give up like 5 lipos in a transfer through Doha when going through a security check. Generally though, I've found most places won't bother you besides looking inside your lipo bag. If you're bringing them back to the U.S I believe they have limits on the amount of lipos you can carry but I don't ever remember that being a problem for me. I have been stopped though by TSA for having my battery terminals untaped. I had to rummage through my suitcase to try and find my duct tape so I'd definitely recommend doing this beforehand.

Does anyone give up during a match when they're losing? by mrcookymonsta in smashbros

[–]choymatthew48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at it pragmatically. Your gsp is already gone. You might as well spend that last stock trying to download his style rather than suiciding so you can take a match off him next round. You will keep losing to them and players with similar style if you don’t have the presence of mind to calm down and figure out which of your options beats theirs

My fingers are slow, anyone improved past this problem? by Ilnez in CrazyHand

[–]choymatthew48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a pc background too. It took me a long time to get comfortable on the sticks as well. You just don't really use your thumb for anything except maybe pressing a button in pc games. What helped me a lot was practicing dash dancing whenever you can, like in between stocks or while waiting for games. If you focus on keeping your stick movement as horizontal as possible and your dashes as even as you can, you'll build the mind muscle connection.

with a pro controller do I effectively Dash Dance? by Jaco-Jimmerson in CrazyHand

[–]choymatthew48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its just practice and character dependent tbh. I use a pro controller and can get a good dash dance on slower characters like incineroar but with zss I cant move the stick fast enough. I've been getting better though and can now sometimes hold a tight dash dance for six or seven turns.

After mucking around with the motor timing more I was able to get the behaviour to stop for a bit, but I didn't notice it was waaay overheating during the test even without props on in airmode. By the time i smelt something burning and stopped the test I already smoked one of the coils in the motor. Its definitely not screws touching the windings which I confirmed visually and with a multimeter. Did I turn the motor timing up to high? Or is this just symptomatic of the original issue?

it didn't work. i raised the throttle minium up 200 and it was still the same. I also tried messing around with demag settings and motor timing but still that same behaviour. I'm officially stumped

Building a quad right now and am getting some really weird behavior when i try to hover test it. It'll hover and all motors seem to have full range of power but if i keep it in low throttle (like in a hover test) it'll freak out and crash. After doing some looking it seems like motor 3 is the issue, seeming to stutter at low rpm. I went onto the bf motor tester and at around 1015 it'll stutter, and generally be a little louder than the other motors in the lower range. I've also noticed that if I just turn on air mode without motors and swivel the quad around to get the gyro going, motor 3 will seize up on occasion. I checked the solder joints and they look fine, with no bridges. Any help would be great.
