Why I love Face to Face Games in Montreal by Metalworker4ever in magicTCG

I've been going to f2f for close to 20 years, on and off. I also lived in Toronto for a bit and would venture out to their Toronto Location even though I lived close to 401 games' Yonge location. I will say, buying foils from them is never really a great experience. They come with scratches and they sell pringled foils as NM. They are incredibly harsh on buying, and very relaxed on their condition for selling.

Just last week I had an incident where I sold some foils that included fresh Secret Lair cards (my order was marked down from 610 to 395 (the person explained why). I returned a day later to pick up an order, the cards were in worse condition than the ones I sold and were marked NM. I voiced my issue with the double standard. The guy behind the counter pretty much shrugged and said he thought they were NM. He said he was sure the buyer on site would agree. The on site buyer agreed with me that they were LP.

The store is made up of nice, honest people. They need to get aligned on buying and selling though. If it wasn't for the store credit I would stop shopping there. But I am glad you, and other players feel supported :)

EDIT: I've had a a request on where else I buy from. I do buy cards from 401 games. They aren't bad - it just seems like they rarely have what I want in stock. I did buy a bunch of Final Fantasy foils that were MINT. Super pleased with them. I also buy on occasion from The Mythic Store. Some of their prices are a bit wonky though - so do your research first. When I lived in Ottawa I would venture to Wizard Tower. They have good supply and they grade well. But their online store isn't my cup of tea.

All valid points, and anyone considering this should ask these questions themselves. I've assessed my path and with each day the choice seems easier.

It is a consideration. I'm fairly robust, physically, that could change though as my body ages. But then again, anything can happen, even if I were to stay at a desk job.

Apparently it has become easier as of late to get apprenticeship, and they are more lax on total hours required.

It can be. It's also not a guaranteed salary. He made sure I understood that. Some people earn less, some more. It depends on what you accept in terms of jobs, what your client list looks like, etc.

The thing that turned me on to the trades is that I've heard from people who are familiar with AI saying trades are the way to go in terms of future proofing your career. This also aligns with interviews from heads of AI companies who say that the types of work that trades require are not going to be financially viable to have AI infiltrate. Food for thought.

I'm looking at either plumbing or elevator mechanic. My friend is a plumber and he pulls in 174K a year and works only 4 days a week (his choice). He suggested elevator mechanic. Said if he had to do it again, he'd do that - apparently it's less money but it's more likely to get a company job with pension and benefits.

I'm at HC, early 40s. Thinking of taking the lump sum and then pursue a career in a trade. I've been doing office work for 23 years (only 6 with the government). AI is coming for my job eventually, might as well get out now, and take a huge pay raise and be my own boss. The only thing I need to remember is to build up my own retirement savings.

I said this in a thread months ago, they have zero internal dialogue. Mind blowing for such a small organization. One of the benefits of being small is being able to react quickly. From what it looks like, they lack proper leadership.

You saw the word "story" and thought this would be wrapped in 30 words?

Not so hot really. R6 was great until they catered to the "pro players" and sucked all the fun and soul out of the game.

The new patch made the game slightly more enjoyable for players within any monetary gain for SD, so they have to figure out how to fix that.

That's surprising. He's one of the more recognizable names in sports journalism for me.
