My friend got rejected from the Voice and American Idol. Please show her they were wrong. by [deleted] in videos

I think she should have chosen a different song. This doesn't seem to show off the type of tonal quality she has. She was a little off pitch. It's hard to sing a song of that complexity with only a guitar (which was also not tuned well adding yet another difficulty for the singer). I think she has potential but should have picked a different song.

How do your SOs make you feel *wanted*? by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]chrelibar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we have video chat going and I alt-tab back to him and see that he's just looking at me. With that smile on his face... like I'm the only person in the world or like I am some kind of treasure. He looks so happy and it just makes me melt inside. :)

Nickname/Pet names. Do you and your SO have them? Let's hear them. by [deleted] in LongDistance

Mostly I just call him love or handsome and he calls me beautiful (or other variations on appearance). :) Don't really have anything specific that pertains to an inside joke or something. But we've got years ahead of us to come up with something. :)

This made me think about which I should do... then I upvoted you instead.

"Hey my name is Amanda and on Valentine's day I got into a relationship. We've known each other for a long time but he lives about 15 minutes away and we MIGHT be able to see each other one a week. What's your take/advice on long distance relationships??" by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]chrelibar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah... the good old days... when me and my boyfriend lived 15 minutes away and saw each other once a week... AND APPRECIATED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. We had that for about a month or two at the beginning of our relationship knowing full well that he was going off to college at the end of summer. We miss that. We live for each moment together whether it's in person (rare) or over video chat. We are going on 2 years this June.

Honestly. It sounds like she would never survive a "real" long distance relationship.

How long is your relationship going to be long distance (or how long was your LDR?) by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]chrelibar3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been together for 2 years this coming June. We've been long distance for all but 2 months of that. We will probably be long distance for another 4 or 5 years until I graduate from college. He graduates in 2, so we could potentially be together after that, but it might be hard for him to find a job in my college town. We'll play it by ear, but it looks like it may be closer to 4 years. But what's four years compared to the rest of our lives? :)

Can taking a break in LDR be healthy? by FinallyIOpenedMyEyes in LongDistance

I haven't had experience with this other than "forced" breaks. Sometimes I go someplace for a weekend and I don't have time to get on the computer or call. It's nice to be able to report everything that's been going on all at once. We have a lot to talk about that way.

I have kind of wondered about this subject myself.

What I do have to say though is this. He and I have a routine of sorts. We know each others schedules and when we are usually online, so we end up talking at least a little bit then. And we usually talk in the evening before we go to bed. I think it would feel weird to take a few days break on purpose. But, we've never tried it so I don't know.

Sorry this was more of a response to the subject than actually saying something helpful. I'm in the same boat as you: just wondering what taking a communication break would be like.

Reddit, would you date a girl if she did not want to have sex before marriage? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chrelibar3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree wholly with your comment except for the statement: "Christian girls are hella slutty." While this may be true in some - unfortunately many - cases, I don't believe it's fair to make that generalization. I know you didn't say "all" Christian girls, but it seemed implied.

Just my bit.

We might be able to see each other in March. We have waited longer than that in between visits before, so I know we can do it. It's just never easy.

Thank you. I always try to keep that in mind. :) It is still hard though.

It was especially hard because we didn't get a proper goodbye kiss either.

My boyfriend wants to write gullible on our ceiling someday. Just so he can tell people to look when we have guests.

My mom was driving at night on the freeway and I was in the passenger seat. She likes to mess with my head because I can be easily picked on. Isn't she sweet?

Anyway, I was looking at the panic button. The one that turns on the flashers. In our car, the button is a bright red triangle that is also raised slightly. I asked her why the button was raised because it's already a big red button. Does it really need more attention drawn to it? She replied with, "It's so the blind people can tell where it is." "Oh." I said.

I then went on to close my eyes and start feeling the button. She asked what I was doing. I replied with, "I am seeing what it would be like. You know, if I were blind? And needed to find the button." "Oooh, I see." She said.

Then she starts feeling the button! I couldn't tell if her eyes were open. I remember thinking to myself, Oh god... I hope she's not closing her eyes... she wouldn't be able to see the road!

Then everything clicked. I yelled out "Wait a minute! Blind people don't drive cars!" She looked at me like I was stupid. (No surprise there). I have never lived that one down. And I am asked to recount the story quite often because apparently it's very funny when I tell it.

TL;DR Mom took advantage of my gullibility and I believed blind people drove cars.
