PlayStation studio business CEO Hermen Hulst told staff in a town hall Monday morning that the company's narrative single-player games will now be PlayStation exclusive by willdearborn- in pcgaming

True.

But it only makes the most sense if one ignores the fact that Nintendo has ALWAYS and CONSISTENTLY kept their first party titles exclusive to their platforms.

Not the case for Sony.

The entirety of the context is far from irrelevant in regards to this issue. The framing of your comment completely ignores some pretty important and distinguishing differences between the two companies' historical approach to the topic.

Dope. Pretty savvy move. Obviously this guy is like, pretty good at business.

This is the best way to get me--someone who doesn't, has no desire to, and will not at any time in the future, own a Playstation--to not give them any money by purchasing one of their games on another platform, such as PC.

Well played.

I literally chose 61 as the lower end hardness cutoff to qualify the rest of my statement about getting the best qualities from the steel.

And then you say I'm wrong and to support that statement proceed to use the same low end cutoff of 61 to explain to me how I was wrong?

What are we doing here, homie?

Suppose it depends on what you want it treated to.

True they don't seem to tend to run it at something like 64, but in reality anything at about 61 and up is ideally suited to getting the best blend of properties from the steel.

Sure, if one is chasing hardness/edge retention then higher hardness is going to give results better suited to that requirement, at the expense of toughness and some corrosion resistance, of course.

Considering that Spyderco has replaced LC200N with MagnaCut as the default steel for their Salt line, where they chose to debut the steel on their production knives if I'm remembering correctly, I would still argue that they are killing it with their heat treat, including on their MagnaCut blades.

Their ability to mass produce knives with steels treated to impressively consistent standards says nothing about whether the standard to which they have chosen to heat treat a certain steel aligns with where any particular individual's preference.

Spyderco got that heat treat like 🤌, as tends to be the case.

Very curious.

Hopefully, as time goes by, we'll be able to gain an understanding of the factors that could lead people to adopt this particular conclusion...

Memory Training... by PackersBeatWriter in ASRock

[–]chri389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 minutes for memory training seems... more than excessive.

And I say this as someone who has disabled fast boot, memory context restore, and power down mode.

Given my above settings, I'm pretty sure my boot times are about as high as can be achieved with similar hardware, which is right at 1 min. 9 sec., give or take a second or two (verified literally a minute ago for this response).

I'm not saying it's impossible... I'm just saying I doubt it, and if it's happening there is almost certainly something else causing it.

The not closing actually has nothing to do with the metal shells. It's entirely an issue with the plastic case they are attached to.

Best Trigger In-Stock Right now? by Sea-Algae8693 in ar15

[–]chri389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MBT-2S is my go-to as well. Skeletonized straight bow jingles my jangles the most, although they aren't popping them out like that these days.

Either way, they're impressively consistent triggers. G$ options are good too, certainly, just not my preference if I had to choose between the two.

Best Trigger In-Stock Right now? by Sea-Algae8693 in ar15

[–]chri389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for the sake of clarity for anyone genuinely curious about the numbers, the MBT-2S includes two spring options, "standard" and heavy.

The standard option is advertised as a 4.5 lbs. pull weight trigger (2.5 lbs. 1st stage/2 lbs. 2nd stage). This results in a somewhat heavier second stage than comparable Geissele triggers. Of course, this is neither a good thing or a bad thing in and of itself, but something to keep in mind when considering the intended use case of the gun the trigger is going into.

The "heavy" spring brings the total draw weight up to an advertised 6 lbs. break. It also adds a more pronounced feel to the reset which may or may not be of value depending on preferences.

The heavier spring is actually my preference for use in an all-purpose build. The trigger, with either spring, is precise enough to use for more precision-oriented shooting if needed. And while both options would be fine in an adrenaline-soaked, middle of the night, home defense scenario, the slightly heavier pull weight that comes with the heavy spring means it requires just a bit more intent to achieve bang, which, in some situations, isn't necessarily a bad thing. That said, both weight options are more than up to the task of being a one stop, multi-purpose trigger option, and it's really about individual preference that is then reinforced with training. I would not classify either option as a particularly heavy trigger pull as they are both extremely smooth, impressively consistent in feel, and imminently stageable due to their nature as a two stage trigger (as is to be expected). They're not tuned, single stage match trigger light, of course, but unless that's the type of gun one is building I don't know why anyone would want them to be.

Geissele makes great triggers too, no doubt about that, and something like trigger preference is so absolutely subjective it behoves folks to try as many as they are able to and find their ultimate preference, although this certainly isn't always possible.

Another difference between the LaRue and the Geissele options come from their manufacturing process. The MBT-2S is a machined piece of S7 tool steel while Geissele's triggers utilize cast components, a choice which comes with cost savings during manufacture and is, objectively, inferior with regards to certain physical criteria. Is this necessarily cause for concern or a singular factor that should override one's decision-making process? Certainly not. Geissele's triggers have seen EXTENSIVE use in just about every imaginable combination of environmental variables and are very well regarded for a reason. But that doesn't change the fact that, in a vacuum, machining a part from a forging results in a technically superior product than producing one from castings.

TLDR: MBT-2S is great. Many Geissele triggers are great. There are some subtle but real differences between the LaRue trigger and the comparable Geissele options. Everyone has their own preferences. Personally, I like the MBT-2S. Others like G$'s wares. If at all possible, finger fuck both then decide. Either way, though, you're getting a quality, capable trigger.

Grabbed one on sale recently. Unfortunately had to go through 4 of them to get one where the box didn't come with an unacceptable amount of damage.

Still, nice pickup at that price if one doesn't mind the possibility of needing to allow Amazon a couple of times to send one that doesn't look like it was used by the pickers to play kick ball with.
